No team that doesn't win their conference should play for the NC. IMO. LSU or Bama sits home and watches the other teams play an extra game with the possibility of a loss.

I though UGA's crying in 2007 was ridiculous. They sit at home and watch Missouri lose to OU and fall from #1. No team should benefit from not playing a game

They didn't win the NFC last year? Funny, I could've sworn they did. You people comparing the NFL to college football are comparing apples to oranges.

As for the rematch talk, it's a real longshot. I don't think it will be fair to the winner of the Nov 5th game, especially if that winner is LSU since Bama is at home. But the reason I would like to see it is because it would be one of the most electric atmospheres I could imagine at any sporting event.

IMO, two conditions must be met under the current BCS for a non-champion to play.

1. The conf champion must be in the game. Under this scenario this condition would be met.

2. There is no viable alternative. Meaning that there is no major 0 or 1 loss team that didn't lose their conf championship game as their only loss. This condition is almost certain not to be met. Say OK wins out, or Wisconsin, or Stanford (assuming they loss the reg season game to Oregon), then they should get a shot at an undefeated SEC champion before a SEC runner up should get a rematch.

Boise will get it's shot if it is the only remaining undefeated team. A one loss SEC champion would go before them, but not a runner up with a SEC team already in.

I don't see how you can make this prediction right now. I think the BCS computers might keep Boise out of the title game even if they're a consensus #2 in the human polls.

What happened to the bcs rule where 2 teams from same conference cannot meet for BCSCG?

While I didn't say it clearly, it was more in terms of every other team losing 2 except the SEC champion and the SEC runner up. In that case the worse they would be is probably #3 in the computers. My point is that even Boise would have to lose before a rematch was given.

There never has been a rule like this.

Actually, they will play again only if LSU loses by that score because Bama plays at home.

Personally I would LOVE to see this happen - no matter who wins on Nov. 5th. The main problem I see with your logic is Boise State. They will win all their games and IF Georgia continues to win out and play in the SEC championship game they have a quality win to help boost their computer rankings. Let's also hope Georgia stumbles along the way.....

Another double-whammy to the loser of LSU-Bama is the fact that they will be left out of their conference championship game and the other contenders will have that one extra championship game to play and improve their positioning.

I think THIS game on Nov. 5th is for the true naitional championship. Let's take it at that and enjoy this epic battle.

If Clemson goes down its more likely to VT in the ACC championship game if both make it there.

the Cocks won't beat Clemson, brah....

but then again, i also thought that OU would handle Tech last night pretty easily and we know how that turned out....

but seriously, i think if Clemson were to lose, it'd be in the ACC championship game or something...

So by this logic the NFL wildcards are not worthy of competing for a championship?

Yeah both teams deserve to play in the BCSNCG but I don't know how I feel about letting a team in the game that hasn't won their conference.

If you can't win a 6 team division you don't get a re-do of the LSU/Bama game. I am expecting LSU to win this game. Bama loses to LSU and they don't get to face LSU twice. That's crap. If they don't beat us the first time they don't deserve a second shot.

The championship is about determining the best team, not which team has the most awards through the regular season. If LSU and Bama are the two best teams after the season/championship games then they should play again.

I think the best chance of this happening would be an incredibly close game, with some bizzare cirumstances that caused LSU to lose, maybe some bad calls or something, if LSU lost by a point or something close, since it was at bama, some might want to see a rematch
