You guys are making me do something I don't want to. Knock a pile of paycheck collectors of NBA Bench/Projects, Summer League, D League, 10 day contract, and Euro/World leagues..
Fine livings made while chasing their dreams, and great collegians, wonderful young men, whom we all owe a great gratitude to. But, I only see one player from that team excelling on the next level, the rest range from journeyman to fringe to hanging by a hair.

The AD made a big hIre with TJ. Obviously it hasn't panned out but we opened the wallet. When TJ signed his deal his salary was 1.5 mill.
Compare that to Jim Boeheim 1.6 mill and Roy Williams at 1.2. People who say the AD and/or university aren't committed to hoops are dumb as frick. We paid a big time salary, just had millions in renovations, etc.
Just paying a salary doesn't show a commitment. Firing shitty coaches who don't produce good results shows a commitment. We did that for 10 years in football until we got Nick Saban. Alabama did it for 12 years until THEY got Nick Saban. We did it almost 30 years ago in baseball and got Skip Bertman. But in basketball, we let one dumbass stay for 10+ years and have another one at four years and counting with no apparent intention of looking for basketball's Nick Saban or Skip Bertman.
And as for the millions in renovations, are you seriously calling that a commitment when you see what we've spent on facilitites for football, baseball and, hell, even softball over the last 10-12 years?
Alleva cares more about his ego than he does about having a good basketball program. So, he's keeping his guy that he hired regardless of how bad he performs and letting the basketball program wallow in shite for as long as it will. 15, 20, maybe 25 years from now, when Johnson finally cracks .500 in the SEC and gets to the NCAA tournament, some idiots will probably be on here saying "I told you so" and that anybody who doubted TJ was crazy.
Ah well. Who cares? It's only basketball, right?

I mean the team had essentially the kings franchise player in thorton and some guys who got time with several NBA teams-CJ and Temple...Also had several good college players-tasmin terry martin and bo spencer. Quentin thorton and storm gave some quality minutes....there was a lot of talent on that team...

The Kings franchise player that NO rarely played and traded for a box of cookies. I was adamantly against his and Collison's trades.
Litany of 10 day contracts to a be glove for last-second-arc Defense..now cashing pay in Europe.
Such a talented team that the HC rarely saw fit to use beyond 7(or 8) guys max per game, making the main starters go 34+ minutes per gm.

One thing is for sure, other so called basketball schools would can TJ's arse this year due to his 4 years of sub-par basketball results. LSU needs to get back to EXPECTING & DEMANDING better results from their coach. Even though the record ws better, the development wasn't, the offense wasn't and the fan's involvement wasn't.
He should go this year.
He should go this year.

2008-2009's LSU Mens Hoops outright SEC crown,
Yet you ignore we were the #9 seed in the tournament for a reason. The SEC was putrid that year.

My point being, that the one true NBA player on that LSU team, I well foresaw his greatness then, and his future NBA upside, and was adamantly like most here, opposed to the Hornets selling him cheaply.
And pay attention jr, if you read this board back in 2007-2008, you'd well know that I'm actually Anthony Grant, and used this forum to lobby myself for the LSU gig almost daily.

It was admittedly a down SEC year, one for the taking. It still doesn't dismiss the solid season, ironman efforts, the SEC crown, and that LSU balled UNC tight, when five other teams were smashed by them.
I'm not even some TJ loyalist, but I'll give him credit for that season, that team was well coached, executed, and were warriors.

I really thought he was a good hire. I was wrong. I like him, I want him to succeed but it is not working. I went to one game this year and realized why I don't go often anymore. There is no atmosphere. Great place to bring your family to have a pleasant evening but that is about it. If we are just going to write off basketball as being any kind of major priority so be it. But let's not pretend like this program is going to be making any big steps under the current scenario.
