Do you not consider that an "ad"? If not, what is it?
If it mentions COx on it, I'd call it an ad. I do not recall Cox being on there, though...
Again...this isn;t 1978. There isn't a picture of this thing ANYWHERE given there had to be 70,000 cameras in the stadium?

I do think they changed it for the ULL game at least, correct me if I'm wrong, I wanna say the four-corner ads were Coca-Cola, Verizon, Capital One and then TigerVision, I'm all for you putting that crap in corners and keeping the regular replay video. I could be misremembering though...
You're correct...they superimposed the logos in the four corners VERY small. You likely couod not have even read them from the SEZ.

Yeah, um I wasn't too concerned, personally with photographing the scoreboard, I didn't take pictures much at Vandy because I'd rather not screw up my camera in the rain and to be honest I didn't watch many replays in that game because I was cold and wet so I wasn't too concerned with moving, I just squinted and watched the SE if I wanted to see a replay. This week I did notice differences, I would be willing to guess that there may be even a few more for UF, but I'm thinking the ULL game basically dictates how that board will be used until further notice

first, it rotates between cox, cap1, southern bbq sauce, whatever...
second, you have to actually take a picture during a replay to have it. and my pic was taken from the sez with a phone.
also, i'm willing to bet that the 70,000 people that you speak of don't all post on this board.
but hey, people still thought the world was flat even after columbus came back. you = them

Genius reply...really.
All it takes is a photo...it's not like they're hiding the damn thing. for frick's sake...you're panties are in such a wad about this, you'd think you'd have hired a God Damn camera crew to document your complaints about it. Instead...we get a fax.
Nice job.

GeauxTigerTM, for $7 million, what did we actually gain?
This is what it replaced...so you tell me.

What could it possibly be, if not an ad?

And, as you see, the static coke ad remains, as well.

I stand corrected. Cox was on there. That needs to go.
And look...an actual photo.

just to be clear...you're bitching like a bitch because we replaced THIS...
with this...
LSU sucks at everything.

True...and UT fans were less than thrilled when we saw that our new video board dubbed "Godzillatron" was more of an "Adzillatron". Still, the video image on our screen is much bigger than LSU's, simply because our board is so much larger. LSU's is too small to have so much of the screen taken up by static ads.
i meant UT as in Tennessee. Tennessee has a new scoreboard this year that is VERY similar to the one LSU got. Looks huge until they turn it on and half the thing is a bunch of adds on the side

was it worth $7 million?
That significant and upgrade? Yeash...it's pretty awesome and CLEARLY night and day better than the piece of shite we had.
Does that mean it couldn't be better? Of course not! Most things could! But to come on here from GAME ONE and bitch and moan about this huge upgrade is typical LSU fan behavior.
For whatever faults it may have, it's hugely better than what it replaced.

If you mean I occasionally find happiness in things LSU does...yeah. I guess I do. I realize that's an uncommon quality these days, but frick.

Anyone know if they have contractual obligations that require a certain size from the previous years scoreboard? If Coke signed a 5 year contract in 2005 for a whatever by whatever ad on the scoreboard, LSU can't just say "suck an egg, we have a new HD screen."
Posted on 9/22/09 at 10:10 am to GeauxTigerTM
I'll stop arguing now until I go to an away game, we'll see. I'm sure this argument will arise over and over again this season anyway.

Oh...and to to be clear, I've bitched and moaned about the field for YEARS. It's an abomination that with the quality athletes LSU recruits that our field is always in such poor condition. the ULL game featured a playing surface with more sand than grass...in GAME TWO.
You want to bitch about something that matters, pick up THAT cause. Bitching about the brand spanking new scoreboard that looks great (despite the inor nits to pick in regards to advertising) isn't worthy of this much annimosity.
But you guys keep jousting those windmills...

It is, without question, far better than what we had previously.
It would be nice though if they could throw up a full screen ad just before a replay, like they do many other places to keep the advertisers happy and then give us a full screen replay IMO.

Why does a static two color coke ad have to be in HD video, though? Why not just put a permanent lighted sign, the same size, next to the scoreboard?
