True. There is no reason for them to show the full screen during pregame and give us half view during the game. I wasn't pleased at all

The Coke ad is too big and takes up too much space that could be used for the actual game replays, other than that I don't have a problem with it.

Chicken are you referring to the fact that there are 19 seconds left in the 4th qtr and Miss State is actually beating Auburn?

It's very nice.

Bit did they use their old structure and simply drop a screen in there like we did, or did they put up an entirely new board in that rectangular shape?

Keep in mind, we simply removed panels from the old scoreboard and upgraded them. As you showed on your diagram from post 1, it's an odd shape. Where AU has a rectangle in which to chop up and use, we have this strange shaped board. Without removing most of the ads entirely from our, I don;t see based on the shape of our board how we could accomplish this...with scrapping the whole thing and putting up a rectangular board.

other than that, I doubt many fans have a problem with it...although, for the amount of money that was spent, it would be nice to see running teams stats fixed on the scoreboard.

I have to say that the screen is incredibly clear. I sit in North and when we were down in the South, I watched the big screen and it was awesome.

What's not to get? The center space on the new board in TS is a rectangular shape.

LSU actually had more flexibility than Auburn did there. LSU has a rectangle like that AND two other square spaces to work with.

It's not the size or shape that is so nice about the Auburn board, it's the way they are utilizing the space to provide replay, ads and stats all at the same time.

The ads paid for the sign

I understand that the sponsers paid for it but they could of at leat put the ads around the screen, or around the scoreboard. At least these people can get their moneys worth.

in hindsight, the structure in place now should have been designed to account for expansion.

That being said, there is absolutely no valid reason why the Coke ad needs to stay fixed on the screen for the entire game. If so, then whoever drew up the contract with Coke screwed up and should have accounted for the fact that we would one day have a bigger video screen for replays.

For frick's sake people. Who gives a shite if it's clear if it's full of ads! I didn't come to see a coca-cola bottle take up half the screen. If they want Coke somewhere add to the ends of the board.

Some of you ungrateful idiots deserve an

We have people drawing up mathematical dimensions of a scoreboard? Looks like you need a life and a job.

Part of it is.

I think what makes AU's look so nice is that the ads even look good because they are part of the same shape screen. It all looks clean.

I would be interested to know which stadium actually has the larger view in those photos. Even with the ads, LSU's screen size seem to be about the same size as AU's...though I'm guestimating based on the size of the people in frame in both images.

Look...in a perfect world LSU would not need the ad dollars generated by this. Clearly that money is going into the general fund as it is being used for the athletics programs. that helps keep ticket prices where they are. LSU isn't suddenly going to decide to do with less if/when people get their way and all the nasty ads are removed. that revenue stream will have to be made up somewhere...any guesses as to where they look first? It ain't gymnastic tickets, btw.

Finally (before I go...gotta' run to the hospital) I'm NOT a fan of the ads. I'd refer they not be there. I'd also like them to utilize the screen to the best of its potential...and I hope they go in that direction. My only goal in arguing this point is that, for whatever reason, there always seems to be a contingent of LSU fans that are NEVER happy, and it tends ot piss me off. Regardless of the shortcomings of the screen, it's infinitely better than what we had and I'm grateful to have it.

Monier, you have to admit, we spend $7 million (according to Coon) on a new "score board" and only 35% of the surface space is dedicated to replay space. Does that not seem extremely low to you?

I agree that it could be better. But what can you do? I'm just aggravated with all these negative rants on here..Nothing is positive.

How long until a Tigerdroppings.com ad takes up the remaining 35% Chicken?

Seriously, it would probably be more aesthetically pleasing if they had two major sponsors to take up either side, instead of breaking it up into tiny, more distracting ads. Harder to sell at that inflated price, and then your eggs are all in one basket... but it would look nicer.

This may be because I sit next to the band between the uprights and the board is so close, but I don't recall even noticing any of the ads during the first two games. The picture is awesome as opposed to years past.
