fyi, the brand new hd jumbo tron UT just put in is the same way as ours. they have a huge scoreboard that has adds on both sides that make the picture not a whole lot bigger than before. it's not just us. those companies paid for the thing, so their names are gonna be on it. we don't have a stadium that can support a jumbotron like the one at texas.
True...and UT fans were less than thrilled when we saw that our new video board dubbed "Godzillatron" was more of an "Adzillatron". Still, the video image on our screen is much bigger than LSU's, simply because our board is so much larger. LSU's is too small to have so much of the screen taken up by static ads.

What's up with it is people are idiots. That's NOT an ad in the replay. It's stupid...don't get me wrong, but it's not an ad in the bottom left that seems to be blocking the replay. It reads something to the effect of TigervisionHD. It's the main Tigervision logo they shirnk down and plop there. no clue why...but it's not an ad.
I'm pretty sure it is, but I'd like to see a bigger version of it - it's "Tigerview replay presented by Cox" or some shite like that.

but it's not an ad.

I've been to a few UT games, and while their scoreboard is HUGE, and the ads on the outside, its very hard to lookat.

i.e., an ad.

sure...sounds like they are failing to appease the fans.
You mean the fans that are not happy with our 3-0 #7 ranked football team?
I'd say our fans are, AT BEST, fickle.
Worst thing to happened to the LSU screboard was Dallas' new stadium. Everything else now looks bad in comparision...as if that was an option for us in the first damn place.

Maybe I'm crazy (likely am) but I'd rather my screen not be framed by ads, thats' more distracting to me. Chances are things will continue to be switched around a bit here and there, for the time being the size of the ads will be what they are because that's what was paid for, in the offseason, MAYBE LSU renegotiates the ad sizes on the screen.

I actually like the size of our's, if they'd use the whole thing to show replays.

looks to me as thought the videographers are filming in a size and format that would look terrible stretched across the entirety of the scoreboard.
I do not let the side ads bother me but the in picture ad is ridiculous

Were you at the game?
Yep.

Yes it most definitely is another ad.
No...that rectangular block was NOT an ad. As soon as someone produces a photo where you can actually see it (WTF Coon, did you fax that on here?!?) I'll say I'm wrong.
As I sit in the EU nearly eye level with the thing near the goal line in the NEZ, I'd say I had a PRETTY good view of it.
It was not an ad.

It is, I only argue the best we can hope for is 60-65 percent someday. You'll never get 75% or more video to ads.

that's the fans, right?
Maybe. But possibly they figure that the fans will stay around longer despite what they get the shaft in. Really, is anyone going to give up/sell their season tickets because the new HD board has a bunch of ads? If a few do, there are plenty of people in line at the moment for you not to be missed. And until that state changes, you can expect more things like what's happened to the HD board to occur.
So, why not make some extra cash flow via advertisers?

wrong. it's just disappointing that we know what we have but we use it as HD ad space as well.
and as far as the ad inside the replay, it was actually about 1/4 that size for the vandy game but i guess they (the advertisers) complained that it was too small so it grew to it's current side. just gotta hope and pray that there's no action going on in the lower left quadrant of the screen.

I'm almost positive it was this:

Do you not consider that an "ad"? If not, what is it?

actually, if you look up right after the "get loud" graphic (which is actually full screen) when they take the graphic down the screen is actually full size with the video across the whole thing in the correct aspect ratio just for a half second each time. then they throw up the side ads.
Posted on 9/22/09 at 9:53 am to Y.A. Tittle
I do think they changed it for the ULL game at least, correct me if I'm wrong, I wanna say the four-corner ads were Coca-Cola, Verizon, Capital One and then TigerVision, I'm all for you putting that crap in corners and keeping the regular replay video. I could be misremembering though...

and as far as the ad inside the replay
There are 92,000 people in the stadium. Probably 3/4 of them have cell phones with cameras. Does not ONE OF THEM have a photo that shows clearly what the frick the rectangle is? I'm still sticking with NOT AN AD until proven otherwise.
Here's an idea...let's bitch about something wothry of being bitched at. Like the HORRIBLE condition of the field after ONE GAME!!!
