Players need to stay down when hit like that. Make the shite obvious and the refs look bad

How about the targeting call against Tennessee that the refs didn't even see. No flag was thrown, but they went and reviewed it and tossed the Tennessee player. The announcers thought they were reviewing the spot of the ball.
Maybe that is a normal rule, but, to my recollection, I've never seen that happen.

Can we get a video of the clock not starting and the one second play...? granted they would have had time anyways but they didn't know that ahead of time when they didn't start the clock

Been saying for years that the only way to pressure the SEC to reform is to generate enough publicity and awareness that the NCAA refuses to allow SEC officials to participate in the championship series or in bowl games.

Take off the glasses, he pushed down on the Bama qb.
If you watch closely, you can see that the QB is well aware of what is going on. He’s sitting up using his arms, watching the play downfield and has time to process what’s going on. When the TN defender gets up, the QB stops propping himself up and falls to the turf. The intended effect is that it looks like the TN player shoved him down. The QB’s falling body even separates from the defender’s hands because he’s falling “too fast”.

You missed a couple. UT the past two seasons.
Their QB was hit in the head last year on the same day White was suspended.
He also got his helmet ripped off Saturday with no call.

You forgot the gif of Mack Wilson decapitating Jarret Guarantano in the Alabama/Tennessee game last year. That is,unequivocally, without a doubt, the most egregious penalty from the 2018 season. It should have been flagrant targeting,as it caused Guarantano to receive a concussion and stitches as a result of the hit. The "refs" opted for roughing the passer as opposed to the targeting penalty that should have been assessed.
Yes! That is the one.
Happened the same day as Devin White's push on the MSU QB.
One got called, the other got away with it.

Ha! I was looking for that one too.
Etling slides, Foster targets him in the middle of the field. NO CALL.
Only Bama can do that.

quote:correct. That's one of the things I hate about this board - the hypocritical homers. If instead of crimson helmets, those players were wearing P&G, this board would feel completely different.
I'm sorry though the player shoved the guy down some, we would be screaming bloody murder if it happened to Joe and a flag wasnt thrown
The OP posted some really bad calls that went Bama's way. No question. But he could do the same thing for us, or any other team. He's just cherry picking the bad ones for our biggest rival - you know, the one that's beaten us 8 in a row.
Stop bitching about the refs and go out there and win the damn game.
When we've lost 8 in a row, 6 of them by double digits, and been shutout 2 of the last 3, we have ZERO right to complain about the refs. ZERO. It just reeks of very, very sour grapes.
Now this year, I do think we have a good shot at ending that streak, but please, let's stop complaining about the refs. It's childish.

This hit on JJ was prior to the targeting rule now in place. However, it was SILL late at the time, and was also spearing.
This was from 2005.

And yeah...Tom Ritter standing right there staring at the play...

LSU was winning this fixed game at the time JJ took the hit. This was just one of MANY calls that day that went against LSU.
This was also the PP Int game.
Spearing was a penalty in 2009 and it should have been called. JJ was removed from the game shortly after that, and LSU lost the lead (as they would have anyway).
You know that was Ref Porn for Ritter. Watching an opponent of your favorite team take a cheap hit and you have the power to let it slide. Not only that, but the kid had to be taken out the game from the cheap hit. Win win.

The NCAA needs to get rid of these conference official associations and VERY strict guidelines need to be implemented as to who can referee particular schools. Referees associated with a school in any way have no business refereeing in that conference.
I don't know the CURRENT rules within the SEC, but when I looked them up several years ago they read as follows. I'm paraphrasing obviously...
To be an SEC official, you CAN be an alumnus of a member school. However, if you are you can not call a game that involves your alma mater.
Ok...that makes sense. It recognizes at the very least the appearance of impropriety that would exist in that situation. so good.
However, by allowing SEC alumni to be officials, they allow for alumni to call games that can directly EFFECT their alma mater. In other words...an LSU grad who's an official can call the Iron Bowl. This game does not involve LSU directly, but INDIRECTLY the outcome can very much help or harm LSU's chances. In my mind, that's a HUGE unaddressed issue.
Oh...and even though a member alumnus can not directly call a game involving his school, there is NO RULE in place to prevent a member alumnus from being HEAD OF OFFICIALS for the entire conference! And wouldn't you know it...the head of officials is Steve Shaw, Alabama Alumnus.
And none of this addresses non-alumni who are simply fans of a program. I myself am not a LSU alumnus, but you'd clearly not want me calling an LSU game!
I often wonder what the reaction would be if before a game involving Alabama, some NCAA officials would step in and remove the officials assigned to the game and replace them with a new set. I kind of imagine the reaction would be sort of like this...
