What would be the percentage of hrs based on innings of play between lsu and usce?

I know that 188(am i correct?) will never be touched but it sure is fun watching the 6/7 guys we have that can go yard at any time this season. This team is the closest thus far since 1997 to show glimpses of the feared "Gorilla Ball" plate approach. I remember in 97, 1 through 9 "ALL" had double digit nukes on the season.

Give this team 1997 bats and 1997 steroids, and we break that record.

Eheheh...

South carolina had a 160 innings of baseball
Lsu had 139

Usce 48
Lsu 38

The hr's by proportion has lsu in front of Carolina.

I can agree with the 7 inning games causing a few less homeruns. But we are still tied for 17th in home runs per game.

Significantly less of a hitter friendly ballpark then most. For instance, Crews’s hit yesterday is a bomb in essentially every park other than ours. We play in most other stadiums and you can add what feels like 10 home runs total.

Those numbers seem to be innings pitched, not innings batting. And LSU has 34 HRs not 38

Through 18 games (SC) and 17 games (LSU):
SC = 48 HRs @ 146 innings batting with 603 total ABs
LSU = 34 HRs @ 128 innings batting with 539 total ABs

SC avgs 2.96 HR per 9 innings (batting)
LSU avgs 2.67 HR per 9 innings (batting)

SC HRs about every 12.5 AB
LSU HRs about every 15.8 AB

About 8% of SC at bats are HRs
About 6% of LSU at bats are HRs

(I think these numbers are right)

these are total innings played by each team according to each team's website. Yes lsu 34, my mistake. Usc is ahead then by proportion of innings played vs hr's.

Every position player that had an at-bat hit a HR that year.

IIRC we hit a home run every game that year … still a record if I’m not mistaken.

It’s like nobody remembers 1998. That team was murdering the ball in Omaha til the winds changed.

It's been exciting to watch.

I'm still keeping my excitement at bay though. There will be ups and downs. Yes, it was our first series but remember, we only mustered a couple of strong offensive innings against Western, who are playing below average baseball.

I remember well. I flew up after the two wins only to watch us lose 2 to USC. Can’t really blame the wind though. Eddy Furniss poor decision and immediate error cost us the first game. Win that one and we pimp slap ASU in the championship game.

The gorilla ball term actually came about during the 98 series. They hit 8 HRs in the opening game against USC and Seth Etherton.

ETA: That series and the USC-ASU football score final is what led to the first round of bat changes the following year.

That was game 1. We lost the 2nd and 3rd games vs USC.

We lost the 3rd and 4th games. We beat USC in game 1 and State in game 2. 14 HRs in the first 2 games...then shite

Yep, finally beat up on State’s left hander (Jackson?) in the second game. He had dominated both the 97 and 98 teams in the regular season. In 97 he only gave up one hit, which of course was a HR.

Yes, we did! I remember one midweek game, I'm pretty sure against Northwestern... we were getting beat, and I think shutout. I was worried about the streak, and finally, very late, someone (I don’t remember who) belted a homerun. We still lost the game, but I was at least relieved that we kept the streak going, which we still did for the entire season.

No shite. I was only referring to the 3 games vs USC. We won the first. Lost the 2nd and 3rd.
