This game has an air of 1997 all over it

I can't remember what the spread was for the game in 1997, but I am pretty sure it was at least UF by 7.

They came in #1, and we shutdown their prolific offense for a good portion of the game. They're great defense that year (it was really good actually) was scored on for 3 TDs and our option/QB scrambling/run game helped key the victory with a hard-nosed and talented defense.

I think this game sets up similarly. Underdog at home, lots of talent, and an offense that is waiting to explode.

Here's to hoping for similar results this year.

Thankfully we're better than we were in 1997 and don't have Dinardo anymore

#1 vs. #14

or

#1 vs. #4

I think this one's a little bit more meaningful in the grand scheme of things.

I fixed it for you.
Good Luck, your offense scored 6 on UGA in 3& 1/2 quarters. Spurrier's failure QB made that defense look like swiss cheese.

.........and 14 in the last two minutes. Don't think that at home this team won't score at least 14-21 points Saturday.........you may be disappointed.

Maybe, but I'd take my chances if UF holds LSU to 14. UF is good for at least 3 TD's and a field goal.

holy cow.

In 1997, Florida had a 25-game SEC winning streak where their average where their average margin of victory was 28 points.

We had Gerry Dinardo.

How were they only a 9-pt. favorite??????????

I doubt 2009 matches the loudness of the 1997 game... hope it does but probably not due to a number of factors...

I understand that we are #4 rather than #14, but we aren't seen by a #4 by most it seems, even by many of our own fans. Fact is that the air and excitement is similar that atmosphere. That was the second to last time we hosted a #1 if I am remembering correctly with last year being Bama.

Not 100% sure though.
