We could have friggin Drew Brees as our quarterback and people would still find something to complain about!

you can thank songy for this mass retardation. anytime somebody wants to criticize a qb but is far to ignorant to say something that makes sense they go with ole faithful "i'll be gal derned if he ern't lookin off the reciever, dad gumit"

considering how little of the field you can see when you watch a game on tv its impossible to know if he's starring down one reciever or looking or checking down to one on the same side of the field. being able to make this judgement from the stands is even more laughable.

Guttata, did you also notice how much TIME the Mia. QB has in the pocket as well. I only watched parts of the Mia vs GT game, but the OL pass protection for Mia was excellent on a few of the long throws that the QB made.

Our OL has to play better starting this week. If they don't start improving the better D's are going to give us fits.

Looks to me like he is mostly locking onto a single receiver, and should have had at least a couple picked. It also appears to me that we have abandoned the middle of the field completely, wasting pass opportunities to our RB's and Dickson, and creating the mismatches that our defense has not been able to handle, even when shorty was here.

If they would have been this conservative when bringing JL along, I think he would have had a different season last year. Problem was that he had to throw a lot more before he was ready when we hit the meat of our SEC schedule.

When we hit the GA, FL and AU is when you will see if JJ is as good as billed. This short conservative game or over throwing deep open receivers in ULL probably won’t be enough against GA FL and AU. I really hope his confidence and accuracy improves over the next few weeks. I think throwing down field and across the middle will help out our offensive line troubles some also if the defense has to back out the box some.

It’s all interrelated. Offensive line has more trouble when we cant throw downfield just as much as the QB has trouble throwing downfield if the OL isn’t blocking well. If they both step up some, they also positively affect the other.

grant it JJ is a better specimen and a faster athlete but JL is more than an adequate back-up.
the coachin staff did a better job of getting JJ ready to play at this level than they did with JL last year. thus JL should be cherished for all that he has been through after last season.
talent, size and speed help playing QB for a big time football school (or any other for that matter) but the proper preparation goes a long way as well.

herein lies the problem with a lot of you people, a receiver on the team tells you otherwise, but you believe you see something different. who should people believe? a receiver who KNOWS he's the 2nd or 3rd option, and that JJ goes through his reads, or someone who THINKS they see differently?......I'll go with the former

Is it possible that he is abandoning his first or second reads because he is scared of making mistakes and just going to his check downs prematurely?

Did you not see where R.J. Jackson said he was the 2nd or 3rd option and JJ was checking down to him. So if Yat goes by what the Player said then yes he does know more than the guy who said "it looks like he is locking onto the reciever".

Yo numb-nuts, did I piss you off for making fun of your little boyfriend or something? A fricking WR ON THE TEAM is quoted as saying otherwise. Not to mention we found out that JJ checked off to a route on the Lafell TD.

Could speak to why we have so many short completions. Hes immediately looking for the safest route, abandoning any choice of the 1st or 2nd options

We still have major problems on the OL.

I do think we need better OL play, but I fear two of the problems with running the ball is our fullback play and the D's are stacking the line because of no fear of the down field plays.

Yes

No

Washington certainly did not stack the line and we still had problems running. We get no push from guard to guard which kills us trying to run in between the tackles.

imho i think the coaches are really protecting him.it looks like they have him reading from sideline to hash, one side or the other. we will have to go over the middle eventually, but if you look at last year, that's where lee got into trouble. i agree about the OL,i think they will improve, and jj will get better touch on the deep ball

try telling TT that about abandoning the middle. he's caught several over the middle. let's see, guess you didn't like that TD pass to CS saturday not any of the completions to Dickson, several for first downs. sorry, Icansee4miles, i don't think you can see at all, much less 4 miles.

If he can just start throwing the intermediate and a couple good long balls

That comes more with experience and reading defenses than it does passing.

Have you seen Miami's qb yet? He's only had 5 starts and he doesn't have as much talent around him as JJ.

No one ever said JJ was better than Miami's QB.

Also, is he a true Soph?

I wish he were right. I'm not seeing that. He stares down the receiver, usuallyy TT, without even gazing at the other side of the field, and throws it at him.

I hope that changes.
