Since I’m bored I’ll start an off-season thread but thought the other day that the argument of who is “Death Valley” is pretty stale.
I sometimes wonder why we hold on to that “moniker” but for others there were times in our History that it was used more often than at other times and it’s something they remember growing up. Personally for me as a fan since the 90’s when I refer to our stadium it’s as “Tiger Stadium” because I think it distinguishes it better and people right away know what I’m talking about especially talking to out of state folks.
My random question of the day is what do you prefer. Tiger Stadium or Death Valley?

Outsiders perspective from a completely unbiased fan, there is only one Death Valley on my sports bucket list.

"It is a pantheon of concrete & steel.
It's a city that rises defiantly in the Delta
Alongside the Father of Waters.
It is the humidity of autumn evenings
That drapes stately oaks and broad magnolias.
It is haunted...and it is loud.
It is Halloween night & Cannon blasts.
It is a Louisiana gumbo of humanity
That cheers its Tigers to victory
And destroys the dreams of invading foes.
Chance of rain is...NEVER!
It is the cathedral of college football
And worship happens here.
When the sun finds its home in the western sky,
It is a field of glory for sure...
But much more than that it is a sacred place,
And it is Saturday night in Death Valley!"

I recall the Deaf Dome...but, anyone saying Deaf Valley was just saying it incorrectly or had a speech impediment.

That’s also some of the confusion is that I’ve heard people say it’s “Deaf” not “Death”

Do they have one? That's a bummer... my whole premise was based on them not having one.

What is it?

Not true.
quote:

It wasn't until 1959 that LSU's Tiger Stadium was first called Death Valley. Previously known as Deaf Valley because of the crowd noise, the name transformed to Death Valley after the 1959 Sugar Bowl in which LSU beat Clemson.

Clemson that the death valley name for constantly beating up on Presbyterian...

Got to love people when they down vote shite and prove they don't know the history of it...

quote:

Their origin of Death Valley is a little more solidified when Presbyterian College’s coach Lonnie McMillian called Memorial Stadium Death Valley in 1948, simply because he couldn’t win there.

The name stuck and even led to Clemson coach Frank Howard being gifted a rock from the real Death Valley in California.

I graduated in 1969. My recollection is that it was Deaf Valley and anyone that disagrees probably wasn't around then. PMAC was built years after Tiger Stadium was known as Deaf Valley and it was just natural to tag it with Deaf Dome because of history.

'79 here and it was definitely Deaf Valley, youngsters on here don't think there was anything that existed before their time
