Alabama has a bigger population than Louisiana, @ 500k more. It’s got an engaged fanbase, wealthy Alumni who are willing to spend much more than most other colleges, and national prestige. Saban was the GOAT, got them to spend 600 million upgrading the facilities, and left that program with players to compete at the top level.
They will have the NIL money to stay on top, just need to find the right coach. Alabama has @5-10 alumni who will write buyout checks if needed. Very few schools have those type of alumni.

Bama is now middle of the pack or worse, back where they were 1996 - 2006

you don't think they'll lose 3 more games this season?

I think this is a good point. The current state is really just legitimizing and/or expanding two things that already existed. But the two in combination, with that expansion is a lot more complicated.

Saban even said he got tired of kids & agents coming up mid flight after a game saying I need to be paid more after a good game! I would say open the door and good luck finding a parachute ?? NIL/Portal gives all the power to kids and their agents/hanger ons. There is no balance to this mess.

If they can't run the ball or stop the run like they did against FSU, they will lose 4-5 games. UGA will definitely punch them in the mouth in a few weeks in Athens.

Saban was amazing with he was able to have his team prepared just from a mental perspective every week. Bama had a psychological advantage against their opponents before the games ever started. That is gone. That team that lost to FSU looked soft. I remember an interview Milroe gave last season during fall camp. He was asked about the differences in camp in comparison to Saban & DeBoer. He said camp was much easier & that the players were having fun. I knew then & there the Bama dominance was over. Their edge left the day Saban retired.

He said they were coming to his office the morning after their loss to Michigan in the semifinals. It annoyed him that after a playoff loss, that they weren't coming speak to him about how to get better in the offseason. All some wanted to know was how could they get paid more.

I don’t think Bama goes 6-6 by any means, but the concern is valid around them. They looked soft and their effort was piss poor. I’ve never seen guys at Bama jogging during a play, and there’s multiple instances of that.

And this might just be my opinion, but they don’t look like a typical Bama defense. The front 7 looked small

People are overreacting on this. Bama has 4 and 5 star athletes on both sides of the ball. This was the kick in the arse they needed to get going. They may be on a slow fade but it's not like they're going 8-4 this season.

Bama will be hitting on all cylinders against lsu, as always

Alabama, for some reason, has hired a ton of really bad fits/bad head coaches over the past 40+ years. Perkins, Dubose, Price, Curry, Shula, and now DeBoer. Part of it was their insistence that every coach had to have a Bear Bryant connection. They finally got over that idiocy, but I can’t figure out if they’ve just been stupid, or felt rushed, or what? Or they think that since they are Alabama, you can plug any square peg into a round hole over there and win a championship. And they’ve got a lot less patience with mediocrity than other schools.

I think it’s a development problem.. and for the lack of pride a lot of those kids are out of state not really a fan of the program just wanna be developed cause bama does have a very long track record of that but only 16% of their roster are from the state of bama and like two coaches from bama .

Acting like they will fall off the face of the earth is silly. But I'm not ready to say this was just a temporary blip either.

Pretty much spot on

It appears they are missing playmakers. Simpson is not the kind of guy that can provide big plays due to his athleticism.

Ryan Williams obviously can, but it appears it will have to be outside the hashes and over the top, because he developed T-Rex arms over the middle on Saturday. My man was hearing footsteps.

As you know, I'm usually glass half empty, and I will still favor AL when they play, but this series has an unusual tendency to go the visiting team's way.

Kelly pissed me off with his 4th opening game 1st H bad 4th down decision and he may be a liability now, but this game should be close.

Only caveat I'd give is if Simpson loses the job and they have a Milroe-type running QB waiting in the wings.

Saban also said something close to that when talking about Coaching in the NFL. He didn't want to coach overpaid kids that he couldn't control. I honestly dont believe he ever wanted out of College football.
