relative to the team they played. Sac State will be lucky to win 18 games this year and they just beat LSU like a top 5 team.

Saban says complacency kills dynasties. Jay’s new challenge will be overcoming complacency that has clearly set in.

Sadly, complacency takes its toll in the offseason by not adequately preparing for the season itself. There’s certainly a chance they just will not be able to overcome what has happened prior to the season even starting.

That said, this feels like a non-host super regional team that loses in three.

I wondered the same thing. Not doubting CJJ's coaching ability, but maybe there was some complacency after winning two of the last three championships. Sometimes it creeps in and you aren't aware of it until you look around at what's happening.

Exactly. It’s human nature. Throw in youth, money, transfer portal, and maybe a lack of leadership and you have what we are seeing here.

I think we have some pitchers step up, have some hitters step up and get cleaner on defense in short order…but the baseball gods seem angry right now.

I think it’s transfers from smaller coming to a huge stage and adapting quite yet Jay will get it right!

It's just hard to predict this team. They scored 21 runs in a game and blew through the field in Jax on mostly offense alone. Yet we have let some pretty average pitchers drill us into the ground at times. The pitching has looked dominant at times but also got hit around by some middling offenses other times. We play good defense sometimes and other times we look like the bad new bears.

I think the inconsistency has a lot to do with so many new faces, and having to add in another new face with Stanfield out. Jay has plenty of depth to tinker with but it may have been to a fault so far. It may be time to just stick with a certain look and let it play out. Let the guys gel as a unit.

Regardless, I don't know what to expect when conference starts. It may be a hugely mixed bag. We may look completely outmatched at times and look like title contenders the next day.

Oh god.

Bro this is baseball. 99% of the results come directly from the players and not the coaching.

I think that I would like to see this lineup (not batting order):

C - Arrambide
1B - Yamin
2B - Ruckert
SS - Milam
3B - Carraway
LF - Simpson (then Stanfield)
CF - Curiel
RF - Brown
DH - Pearson/Braun

You’re probably right. Then again you’re probably completely wrong. Nope wait you might be somewhere in between

I’ll say this, those boys came to play baseball and did a damn good job. We did not play well at all.

We will be just fine.

I have no clue what is wrong with this team, but there is ZERO chance it is due to JJ being "complacent". This dude eats, sleeps, and breathes LSU baseball. It is his life's mission to win baseball games here.

Excluding COVID, 2011 was the last time they won fewer than 20 games. 2024, when they won 26, was the only year since 2011 that they won fewer than 30 games. Won the WAC last season and returns 21 players.

What a gloriously bad take.

It was a bad weekend, but these things go that way sometimes. No time to panic. I believe we will straighten out. Most concern to me is softball.
