This shite again?!?

Of course everyone will say the best student section was the years in which they were there. The overall atmosphere of the entire stadium is drastically different from 10+ years ago, not just the SS.

Sadly, I agree with those that say it will take a few losing seasons to fix this "SS sucks" theory.

However, give credit where credit is due. We are by far the loudest part of the stadium, we show up early, and for the most part stay the entire game. (Notice I say for the most part).

I think it's time to leave the SS alone.

yes, i was a freshman in 2000 and had four sets of tickets. the student section was wild! i remember when i would wreak the smells of whiskey, when cups and bottles flew everytime we scored. that all stopped in 2002. if you can recall, in the fall of 2000, we rushed the field 3 times!!!! never will happen again, ever, and i am glad that i was a part of history!

rushing the field isnt allowed anymore. thats why it wont happen again. if we even tried to rush the field today more students would get tazed than ever before lol. plus the rant would explode saying how classless the student section is for rushing the field since lsu is expected to beat everyone now

why leave it alone. this school is all about dollar dollar bills yall! they will continue to get nerds at this school (because of academic standards) and the student section will be up for sale for the TAF's highest bidder. once we started doing good in 2000 on, tickets for students were harder and harder to get. i liked when a friend from an out of state school would come visit me and the experience that he/she had when attending a football in tiger stadium in the student section.

Aging myself, but we rocked Tiger Stadium as students for the 97 Florida game.

Was one of the lucky few that managed to get on the goal post right before it went down...yeah for me.

LSU football was a lot more exciting when I was in the student section (05-08). I'm sure that has something to do with it...

Yeah, crowd frenzy and offensive production are proportional.

I absolutely agree with that and the idea that it is a social event. That is very prominently displayed by the students leaving early, sitting down the entire game, and just showing no interest at all.

And those aren't the only reasons the SS has changed so much. If I remember correctly, it has shrunken in size over the years. Academic standards have been raised (rightfully so). It's harder for students to get in without the proper ID and whatnot. And also a lot of alcohol is being confiscated. I'm a girl and in my 4 years here I've never been patted down until this year.

And I meant leave the SS alone in terms of criticism. Go jump on the upper decks who haven't filled up at all this season. Or the west and east sides of the stadium that come in late, sit the whole game, and leave in the 3rd quarter every single game.

I was there from 80-85, and the Student section began on the 40 yard line west side and ran the entire span through the north stadium to the east side. The band was on the 40 yard line. The best game was the game we knew we were going to the orange bowl to go against #1 Nebraska. Every orange in Baton Rouge was being thrown in TS. The worse game was the following week when we lost to Tulane.

I say sell extra tickets, then the real fans will get there early. If students sit, they shouldn't be there. They should freaking leave because they aren't yelling either. The student-athlete section sucks except for the golfers. It's pathetic to see the freaking gymnasts just sit there, doing nothing but texting the whole time.

That would be about 40,000 students. Has LSU's enrollment ever been that big?

all this is true. its very hard to bring in alcohol now so how am i supposed to keep up my buzz when i have to get to the games 2.5 hours before the game starts. i get patted down every time i go to the game. ridiculous. you could get in to some pretty serious trouble if you are caught bringing in alcohol as a student as well. im not really complaining just saying it would be nice if i could buy some drinks at the game but thats been discussed over 9000 times.

The student section during Nick Saban's first year as head coach is probably my all time favorite. Man that was one hell of a crazy year.

4 Wildest games that year.

Loss to UAB
OT win over UT
OT win over MSU
First win in Death Valley against Bama in 40 years.

To all the students that year...LOUDEST, CRAZIEST, MOST ENERGETIC STUDENT SECTION EVER

The last time I sat in the student section was Ole Miss 06 OT win. I believe that was the last year you could upgrade student tickets and I was unimpressed then. There was quite a lot of cell phone talking and picture taking goin on. Not so much game watching. Maybe it was just that game. I haven't been back since.

But for sure 2000-2004 the SS was insane.
