I HIGHLY AGREE! I get chills just thinking about it. I was yelling so hard and intensely that my back had a spasm and I had to calm my arse down.
Yeah I almost threw up my head was pounding so hard...and that was without any alcohol!

i remember reading something about the decibel level being worse than a jet engine or something and OSHA rules saying that being in that loud of noise is hazardous after like 30 seconds and it lasted for like 12 minutes.

While I do agree that the student section isn't what it used to be, I blame this a lot on 1 thing. Sororities getting their own tickets. Now every prissy sorority girl gets a ticket, sucks up space that would other wise be used by an insanely drunk freshman for the first quarter and then leaves. If sororities didn't have their own sections, every stupid girl wouldn't get one just so they could sit with their sisters. I know this, because I'm in a fraternity and have sat in sorority sections that had better tickets than we did. This practice of giving sororities tickets is relatively new and needs to end. As far as a student from that era complaining about current students adding curse words to chants, I know for a fact that they were chanting "assholes" during the tiger rag the entire time you were there. frick you and the homo horse you rode in on, if you don't think the stadium is loud enough, get up on your chair and cheer, if that's not enough, get everyone else around you to cheer too.

The student section is the backbone of the stadium's fans. Say what you want but they are there at least 4 hours before kickoff and are the loudest ones in the stadium. Any coach that says TS is the most intimidating place to play, has the student section to thank. I give
to our students and yes, keep the cursing down to a minimum, but as long as you're loud....I don't give a shite!!

That really hits the nail on the head with what I was talking about. Pisses me off to no end. I couldn't get student tickets 2 years ago because of this shite and I know a bunch of better fans that would die for those tickets. Put them to good use, where they certainly are not now.

The first quote explains the second two quotes.

Nice addition. How's TCU doing?

Doing pretty good. They just took out BYU and are one of the tougher teams in the Mountain West. Ranked #15.
I'm just a casual fan however.

Sir, I would never attempt to generalize the traits of one person or ethnic group based on anecdotal evidence. Even if said person wasn't a member of that ethnic group.
I myself have fratastic friends. They really pull the tail, bruh. Tell the active members and pledges to start banging more of these sororitutes (or stupid hoes whatever the case may be) and their tickets can go to some really falling-down drunk freshmen. The student section would get super badass again.
Back to the point; the student section isn't declining like so many think. It's a case of "it was better in my day". Go in peace and frat hard.

i think you people forget that in the past, the student section started a "Go to Hell Ole Miss" cheer... People talk of cursing and what not.. I'm pretty sure wishing your rival go to the bowels of hell is up there

Man give us students a break this year the opponents at home so far have been crappy,
Appy St. (Hot arse 10:00am game). shite my classes don't start until 1:30pm.
North Texas- speaks for itself
Mississippi St- I agree was lack luster but yeah it is MOO state. That's all the games we've had so far at home so wait until Saturday

The student section is getting weaker ever season
however whenerver it needs to be TS is as loud as ever
i was at that game in 03' and i was at the UF game last year
The fans...ALL THE FANS...made that the loudest game ive ever attended

The student section was very loud when I was there from '96 until '01. I think a lot of it had to do with the games being very close, while still having good teams. Thinking back to '97 Auburn, '97 Florida, '00 Tennessee, etc. - those were LOUD from start to finish. My brother's day at LSU, a decade before mine, had some very loud games, too...'85-'88 was very similar to '95-'98 as far as ups and downs and big, memorable wins.
2004 was when I began to notice that the SS and the entire crowd were getting awfully quiet. I will never forget the '04 Vandy game and thinking how embarrassed I was for a friend of mine making her first visit to Death Valley (she was an Aggie)...never, ever forget when she said that A&M was much louder than LSU. I told her "No way..you must have been to a really good, close game there or something." Her last A&M game that she had attended was against LA Tech and she'd been to many more besides that. Errr...
Back to '04, though...it came a year after the NC and people quickly began to act like we were failing and not worth watching. The Bama game was the only SEC game that had any ferver to it. Since 2004, there have been ups and downs, but by the time a fanbase realizes that an SEC or NC isn't going to happen, tickets are given up, seats are empty, and the plan is to leave early when ahead by a lot or not even go at all if the opponent is terrible going into the game. The only times since our first NC that I have heard TS live up to its name:
'05 Auburn
'07 VA Tech
'07 Florida
'07 Auburn
Mind you, these games just had "moments", maybe with the exception of Florida.
Just the other day, I was watching some of our '87 clash with Florida. That game was loud throughout...especially when we were on defense in the 1st and 4th quarters. Emmit Smith was pounding us, but we pounded right back and the crowd stayed in it until the end. It was beautiful.
How about Ohio State qb Tom Tupa having to walk away on the very first play of the game because he could not hear himself and his line and wideouts couldn't hear. This was a DAY GAME and it was full capacity at 80,000! This game, right here, proves to me that Tiger Stadium has lost its edge...but you know what? It's easy to find. It's not like losing your virginity or your wallet in a foreign country. We can get the old Death valley back. It could all start this saturday...
I was at the '03 UGA game and it is in my top 5 of all time. Tiger Stadium was ferocious on that day in September. I hope to God we have a repeat. Like Tommy Tubberville said, LSU already has a touchdown advantage before the game even begins because of the crowd noise. UAG needs a lil dose of that.

ya only one game. No consistency at all in tiger stadium. most the games are lame and people leave in the 2nd quarter!
Posted on 10/22/08 at 1:13 am to AlexLSU
its is weaker but there are still some dedicated student fans like me... its my first year but ive been going to games since i was 6 and its been my dream to sit in the student section. ive been in the staudium 2 and a half hours before kick off for all the home games this season and i have not left till the end of the alma mater. alot of students just dont care anymore i think i know more people going to voodoo fest this weekend insted of the game and that just disgust me. But i think we can and will get pretty loud saturday GEAUX TIGERS

whens the last time we lost at home lol i guess thats why but we need to get louder or we will lose
Posted on 10/22/08 at 1:27 am to Ajklsu
one game that no one has mentioned is the 2006 OLE MISS game. while it wasn't loud the entire game, it was insane the 4th quarter when we came back from down 20-7. i know when jamarcus hit dwayne bowe for the tying touchdown with like no time left in the fourth the place just went nuts. and in OT when ole miss had the ball they couldnt hear worth shite they had like 2 false starts in a row.
