We let you drink...that's about it.

Otherwise, it's a blood-red state. Thank God.

Let me ask you this, have you ever experienced Tiger Stadium...at night...against UF, BAMA, UGA or AU?

I can't even begin to imagine how bad it would be for opposing fans. I sure as shite wouldn't want to go to UF if they implemented beer sales.

Nice find, Josh. Like you, I had always been told and just assumed that there was an NCAA or SEC rule against it.

If there isn't a rule against it, I would like to see them sell beer at baseball games. The crowd is smaller, less rowdy and has a much smaller contingent of visiting fans, thus making it more manageable.

Of course, if a Coke costs $5, I wonder how much they would charge for a beer?

I know for a fact Louisiana is not a "blood red state." Look at the polls from the past couple decades if you think I'm wrong. I have several friends and family from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge. I would say it's about split, just like the polls show true for Louisiana. Louisiana is one of the more evenly balanced southern states. Other than Fl.

But no, to answer your question I have not been to a game yet in Tiger Stadium. I might go to grad school out there and the football program actually weighs into that. haha.

I see what you're saying about opposing fans, etc. and that makes sense. The point I was trying to stress was that allowing alcohol served and stricly limiting the amount and situations when it's served is very possible.

How about this... Why not allow every legal adult to have 2 beers throughout the game. They can get their hand stamped. One stamp on each hand. If someone wants to go through the trouble of washing it off and going back let them. They obviously need it that bad. If this were implemented what would happen. First, you may be less likely to sneak in a flask of hard liquor which is certainly going to effect you more than 2 beers. Second, you're generating loads of revenue. I'm not gonna start crunching rudimentary numbers here but it's a certainty. Third, The fans tenacity and loudness wouldn't die out. My cousins have told me that the reason why the volume dies off at times is because everyone is exhausted and messed up from tailgating all weekend. So, consuming just one or two beers during the game would help prevent that and keep it loud. Fourth, it would send a message to visiting tourists about Louisiana culture and liberties. But that's only to people like myself who listen to Ron Paul and such. However, in my opinion that's one of the coolest and most righteous things about LA. The right to live your life the way you want to live it.

Those reasons are why I say allow it, but only allow a couple per person. Stop sales after the third quarter. Isn't that reasonable?

Yes, it is.

Unfortunately, the last couple of decades have no bearing on the current political make-up.

Second, you're generating loads of revenue.

That would be determined by the associated additional costs.

You can't just say, 'okay, let's start selling beer' and just add that money to the bottom line.

You have to buy the beer, pay for extra security due to the increase in the expected number of drunks, might have to change insurance requirements now that alcohol is available at the stadium, buy proper licenses to sell it, extra clean-up crews because of the increase in trash, and did I mention the change to the insurance requirements.

Fourth, it would send a message to visiting tourists about Louisiana culture and liberties.

Not many tourists at LSU games. And they go to New Orleans for culture and liberties(drinking in the streets) but the NOPD isn't as civil liberty minded as you might think...

However, in my opinion that's one of the coolest and most righteous things about LA. The right to live your life the way you want to live it.

You can do that anywhere...

And you have that right as long as what you do does not impede on my ability to lead my life the way I want to lead it, obey the rules and laws of local, state and federal law enforcement and aren't, in general, a complete dickbag(not you, people in general).

If you can manage that, then live your life to the fullest.

la tends to be red on a state level and blue on a local level. its conservative but also hard to reach old democrats. that party used to be different. i guess this is the wrong board for politics. hand stamp wouldnt work....ticket punch maybe.....and costs could possibly go up not only from added security and clean up but they would also have to have protection from litigation and up their insurance. fines for underage sales.....added vendor training etc etc

Beers at Saints games are $7.50 now

probably somewhere around $7/beer, and it would be a good for baseball at the box, crowd is much less rowdy, and we actually having a respectable fanbase in baseball. (We actually applaud good plays by the opposing team)

So, the profit margin on beer at the box would be great, you won't really need more security than you have. Those 80 year old men they have doing it now need more work anyway. Its pretty ridiculous, all they do now is aggravate the fans there. "Don't stand there" "move your cup"

I got into a HUGE argument last week regarding drinking in TS, and was basically called a NAZI for my opinions... I'm pretty much a Boy Scout when it comes to following the rules, etc...so even if I was a drinker I wouldn't bring any into TS because they've prohibited doing so.

But one thing I will acknowledge is that a HUGE percentage of fans ALREADY are shitfaced drunk in TS. They simply bring in their own. would TS suddenly be exponentially drunker if they were selling beer instead of folks bringing in hard liquor to poor into Cokes? I'm not so sure... I am sure the revenue generated would be huge.

Now, if it's a liability issue where LSU doesn;t want someone to come back and sue them because some idiot was drunk coming out of the game and plowed into them on the road, that's an entirely different story.

I am not sure, that is what I am curious about. I thought LSU use to sell beer at home games.
