So has the talent. The mistakes are still there from year to year.

To put this perspective. This is on par with losing the chik fil a bowl to clemson. Not a final four or bcs loss.

So following your thinking to its logical conclusion, any reporter or columnist who was never a "high level D1 athlete" should never write a word.
Sorry, but you revealed how seriously we should take you with your last "point." It's not a total loss though, since your line of reasoning and what you think makes salient points makes me
Nah, that's not what I'm saying at all, but I can see how that line in my post was bordering on an appeal to authority. I probably could've done without it, as it detracted from my point.
There are good ways to analyze/critique and lazy, hacky ways. I think this was closer to the latter.
I think this particular columnist is being unfair and he's projecting some sort of mental deficiency on the players based on armchair psychology and well worn cliches like "killer instinct" ...

True, yes but how does the position he put them in time after time fail? At that point it's time to take a step back at look at the overall approach. Clearly something is off.

John Brady had full control over his teams and was run off for being too "hard" on the players
He was ran off because he was a complete dick to the fans. Nobody liked him and nobody wanted to go to games anymore.

People nowadays, they want everything immediately. We've gotten better every year. Why is that not good enough?

can't disagree.....and i'm saying that as someone who is glad JJ is here and i feel he has the momentum going in the right direction.
where i can't disagree with it is, during the game last night as lsu extended that lead in the first half from 5 to 9 to 14, NC St called a time out. the camera goes to lsu's sideline and JJ is laughing it up like a its in the bag....i know i know....how the hell do i know what he's thinking or what he's laughing at. i don't, and i realize that, it just put an odd feeling over me when i saw that....i would have lied to see him praising them for their efforts, which i'm sure he did, but not with that schoolyard smirk. be a leader of young men.....JMO end of rant

Bottom line the fact is we only rotated 7 players and one (Darcy Malone) only played 4 minutes. They were tired and exhausted. Came up short at end. We need depth and production from bench. If we had a strong 8-9 players like NC State did we would have pulled that off. The better team lost and thats it.
They were gassed!

Brady was an a-hole to players and fans. He was run off because that shtick gets old when you start losing and your talent dries up when they don't live a few miles from campus.

Wow, earth-shattering article from someone who likely hasn't seen "gloom" at LSU.
"I pushed LSU to the Elite Eight, figuring it matched up well with each of its opponents going forward: NC State, Villanova and Wyoming, according to my bracket. But the thing that matters most in the NCAA Tournament is how you respond to a team punching you in the face, and the Tigers haven’t turned around and thrown a punch back at anyone this year."
1. Learn NOT to bet on LSU in your brackets.
2. What does this last sentence even mean? Another trite metaphor for something we cannot scientifically measure, be it guts or heart?

The improvement has been the talent that has improved. Unfortunately the coaching has remained the same. Each of CJJ's teams have played the same way. The reason we are seeing the increase in wins is simply more talent. Compare talent in each year under CJJ and it relates to the amount of wins. Not really hard to see IMO.

oh good...now a legitimate excuse for ineptitude...all is well!

For the sake of building credibility, he should have left out the fact that he had LSU/Wyoming as his S16 matchup for that portion of the bracket. I'm in two different bracket challenges that have 35+ entries each, and no one (not even the casual fan who likes to gamble or the guy who runs the pool's wife who thinks it's fun to submit a bracket) had that matchup in the sweet 16. That's just stupid picking.

The bench can't "produce" and contribute unless they are on the floor and as far as I'm aware they can't go out there unless their name's are called. Stop hanging shite on the bench and the players. This is a game; there are thousands of variables that lead to win/loss.

The Reveille is a piece of shite.
