Man I would drag that sob in that cage with a D9 dozer if I had to. But he would be on the field during the Bama game.

If the vet is sandbagging it with his duties, tell the fricking vet to get Mike in his fricking cage next game or he's fired. How hard is it to find vets that know how to handle tigers?

that't some great thinking there...no fireworks...

BUT,

all those balls coming off those hot bats will likely sound like fireworks to him...

Just have 2 Tigers. One that stays in the cage and the scaredy Cat that stays in his compound. Done!

It's a sad day when Memphis is doing something better than LSU.

Ah. Yes.

Go cut a switch and hit the tiger with it repeatedly

Come back to me with your findings. I want to know the results.

Maybe Mike's down in the dumps because he hasn't been with a lady tiger in a while.

The trained, educated, professional handlers need to figure out a way to get this animal into his cage and into the stadium. If they can't, they should seriously consider a new profession.

God forbid there was ever an emergency on campus where Mike had to be evacuated in an expedited and timely manner, because I guess he'd be out of luck.

I have been informed that Mike regularly gets in his travel cage a couple of times a month for different reasons. I am then told that the large crowds agitate him so he doesn't want in the cage.

It's all BS. If the vets wanted mike in his cage, they'd get him in there.

Email to LSU AD and Dr. Baker:

quote:

A longstanding tradition of LSU football has been missing at LSU home games this year: Mike VI.

Given the enormous amount of money from various sources (including the fanbase's own pocket) that has been spent to house and care for our beloved Tiger, his absence from LSU football games is puzzling and unacceptable. There is growing frustration on my part - and among other fans - about it.

From what I've read, the LSU vet school does a fine job and takes great pride in its overall care of Mike, and they certainly deserve credit for their hard work and dedication to Mike's health and overall well-being, but they also deserve criticism where criticism is due. It is puzzling to many of us how professional, well-trained, and experienced caretakers are unable (or possibly unwilling?) to get an animal into a large cage for a mere 24 hours per year.

LSU football is the reason we have a live mascot to begin with, and having a live mascot on the field is one of the biggest and most well-known traditions in our football program's proud history. Mike belongs on the field. We want him there, and he belongs there.

Response from Alleva, which Alleva CCed to Dr. Baker:

quote:

I totally agree with you....the tradition of mike being on the field is terrific...i have to defer to dr. baker as it is his responsibility to take care of mike and get him on the field.

Agreed. 100%.

Oh, Mike doesn't like them either? Even more reason.

Seriously. They have one freaking job. Mike is living a charmed life. It's not cruel to get him in the cage for a few minutes for 8 days a year.

A wise man once asked the LSU trainers why a circus could get a tiger to jump through a burning hoop, but the LSU tiger trainers can't get Mike into a travel cage. The answer was that they don't approve of the measures used by the circus trainers.

Boo-freaking-hoo. I didn't want to eat my peas and carrots when I was a kid, but my parents told me to quit crying and eat em. Sometimes, the adult has to take charge. We all have to do things that we "don't want to do" at times.
