The rankings are for tv show purposes, shows and to hype up games

Do you really think BYU is the 8th best team in the country?

Like how do you rank a team right now? Outside of saying like yeah we have watched everyone play and clearly this is team is much better than everyone else

Focus on winning games and when it get to Nov polls start mattering

I would agree most of the time, but why would Kentucky drop out of the top 25 with an upcoming game against ranked #10 LSU?

Voters I guess don’t see it as big win. Maybe they think Kentucky played poorly enough to lose to a bad USCe team

I don't care at this point in the season. I am only concerned about what LSU does. If LSU wins out or only loses one more game, they are in the playoffs, and it's wide open after that.

They're voted on by AP sports writers, most of whom have never played a down of organized football and the vast majority don't watch the games. Broadcast companies then use these rankings to sell ads for the games. It's a racket.
