Interesting stuff IMO. I'm going to keep searching and will update this post as I find other quotes. Here ya go.....

-----

"It's the full body of work. It's not just that you can beat one team, but if you have to beat six or seven other teams and have to play with consistency to do it, I think that goes a long way in saying a lot about what kind of football team that you have. And that's no disrespect that you have, because they may certainly be able to do the same thing if they were put in that circumstance."
LINK

"In our league, you have the feeling you've got to win the championship twice."
LINK

"I can only speak on my experience here in the SEC. I think it's great. First of all, it keeps more teams involved in having to win their division, just like in baseball. And then they have a conference-championship game, which is a fantastic competitive venue for all the players, the schools, the fans. It usually has some significant implications in our league on the national game as well as BCS bowl games."
LINK

"[A]ll the factors need to be taken into consideration. Strength of schedule is a really significant factor. I'm not saying TCU doesn't play as good a people as we play; I'm just saying that there are checks and balances for that. It is much more difficult to compete week in and week out when you play a lot of good teams rather than just having to get up for just one or two games. That's where the consistency in performance comes in." LINK

like not going all year without playing two FBS teams in a row with a winning record? I agree, Nick. I agree.

Bama

Kent State 5-7
Penn State 9-3
North Texas 4-7
Arkansas 10-2
Florida 6-6
Vandy 6-6
Ole Miss 2-10
Tennessee 5-7
LSU 12-0
Miss State 6-6
Georgia Southern 9-2 (not FBS school)
Auburn 7-5

None of these are even close to being a smoking gun. What are you even trying to uncover?

The only reason i want too see the game again is to see LSU whip them.Do they deserve another shot???NO..If u cant win a division in ur conference u do not deserve a shot at the national title

It's possible Okie State, although not as good as Bama, could beat Penn State, Arkansas, and Auburn. Bama's schedule this year was not impressive.

Best Saban quote is from 2003.. I believe it goes a little something like this....."Anyone who doesn't win their conference has no business playing in the national championship game." Saban 2003

Do you honestly think they are not better than all the other teams? And further, do you not acknowledge the system in place - known to all at the beginning of the year - is very clearly that #1 plays #2?

Everybody keeps saying this but humans decide who #2 is so why do they keep saying this?

The computers will vote OSU #2 by weeks end if they beat OU? Why? Because they have a tougher schedule and have the same record as the team with a weaker one.

I don't get that arguement?

Yes the BCS was created to pit 1 vs 2 but 2/3's of the damn formula is done by HUMANS.

I think the idea that "1 vs 2" decides something is what the BCS hoped to accomplish. How does it accomplish that if the same teams, in the same positions, play each other twice and split wins?
What does it decide?

It is what it is...

The chance for LSU to rub Bama's face in it
vs
The chance for a lot of undecided controversy

Bring on The Gumps.

In reality, we don't know how good OSU is until they play us.

Remember the huge spread OSU had on Florida in the 2006 championship? Everyone who bet on florida just to cover was at the bank by halftime.

Projections are just projections. anything can happen on the field.

Yes I THINK Alabama is better than OSU. But in reality, it's just a thought.

If OSU beats LSU in Nola, they have the full right to be unanimous national champions.

If Bama beats LSU in Nola, I guess they have showed that they are at least equal to LSU? They could be better?

Bottom line, if someone else has an argument, you have to go with them.

That being said, if OSU loses to OU, no one else would have an argument. Bama would 100% deserve a rematch (not in reality, but based on how our system operates).

Not by Sunday morning but Humans are the reason Bama is #2, because they have eyes according to the media.

Nope. Never said it. Add yourself to the list of people on here (and Buddy Songy) who keep alleging this.

What controversy?

We beat Alabama at their place already. The gumps are fortunate they are in the conversation to even play in the game.

If OSU does manage to jump Bama (they probably won't), then there will be ZERO controversy to who the best team was this year if we beat them.

If LSU routes OSU, the only thing that that proves is that Bama is the SECOND best team in the country.

Doesn't exist. Songy spouted about that and hasn't backed it up either.

Well, I think you're getting to the heart of the shortcomings of settling "champions" by way of elimination tournament to begin with. I would argue that winning one game on one day rarely ever proves anything. Luck is a much greater factor than almost anyone is willing to admit. How do we know this? I don't think anyone believes LSU or Bama would beat each other 10 times out of 10. So if one can beat the other, then which one is ever truly better?

Unfortunately in football, the game is so physical, you don't have the luxury of playing 25 game schedules that would really sort out who was best.

So its a beauty contest?

OSU,should it beat OU, has a better or at least as good a body of work. They will also be a conference champ and have not yet played LSU.

And if you still think bama is better i say .......so did many think bama was better than utah in 08 ....and we all know how that went

Hell its not 100% we beat OSU
