Why are some of you saying Miles is going to bolt? Where is he going to to bolt? Michigan is not going to offer Miles. Most places I have read for the Michigan coaching job has not even mentioned Miles as a candidate.
And no, it is not because Miles has already said no, but because Michigan has not offered and will not offer.

I hope he stays, but I am an LSU fan first before a Les fan. If he leaves for "greener" pastures, good luck. If he stays, I hope he addresses the inconsistent offense. He seems to be on the right track bringing in a potentially top tier QB with current, experienced QBs to compete and push the new guy. This is a recipe for success. LSU has a good amount of young offensive linemen that may or may not pan out. If the Oline can improve and Mett is the answer, the SEC and the BCS better brace themselves. I rarely worry about the defense as long as Chavis stays and talent continues to develop.
I hope Les stays for stability, but I could live with a new OC.

But when talking about a coach, many fans, like the OP, want LSU to play not to lose.
you must be kidding.
I want Les 'the Mad Hatter' Miles kicking ... and eating grass for EVER!
Screw playing it safe.
I want greatness, I want legendary, Les Miles; he has it!

Watch the end of last year's Ole Miss game, last year's bowl game, this year's Tennessee game, and just for fun, go back and watch Les frantically trying to stop an already stopped clock in his first season against Tennessee. Then, tell me how you think this guy is irreplacable.

Standard retort, and a weak one at that ... is that the best you can do?
Yeah, I get it, anyone who doesn't think Les Miles is the second coming of Knute Rockne is a closeted Bama fan.
Sorry, Southern Man, but your hero won't be that hard to replace.

The one thing I am certain of, and after reading posts like this, makes me grateful for, is that ADs and HCs don't give a flying rats arse about what some ranter on here thinks will or won't happen.
If Miles leaves, I just don't think its a law of the universe that things get worse. If LSU is as elite a program as Southern Man thinks it is, I think we'll be fine long run, and I hope increase our chances are competing on a consistent level.

I get (and 100% agree) that Les Miles is not as bad as some both on the Rant & nationally argue. I also get and agree that making a coaching change is a huge gamble and that we are not that terrible right now. BUT - with all that given, how can you not look at the abysmal offense these past 2 seasons, the Ole Miss debacle, the inconsistent play, the TN game this year, and not think what COULD BE? Thats my beef with Les - the nagging sense that we could be so much better with a bit different approach.

LJ you cant argue with the record. I can think of other highly regarded coaches that have made some silly mistakes.
The reason why i post in these threads is to ask guys like your self to name who they would want to replace him. And usually they cant come up with anything other than saban, gruden, spurrier, and patterson. None of which we could have unless we paid them more than our current coach. And none of them would prob come here.
Supposedly our program is elite ok? So we went out and got the wrong coach for the job in some eyes. Ok so what makes you believe we will get a better coach or get it rt this time around. Cus we obviously won a bcs championship and didnt get it rt. And this next coach would be inheriting insane talent and in better position than when miles did. The next coach would be getting a 2 time bcs champion instead of 1 time. How much time do we give the next guy?
Good programs dont constantly change head coaches.

Every coach has their flaws. No matter who is coaching LSU, fans will find reason to criticize him. I seriously think with a legit offensive coordinator, LSU can be elite again under Miles. I used to think LSU was a doomed program under Les Miles, but I have changed my mind about the head coach.
Even with a completely incompetent offensive coordinator, Miles found a way to win 10 games. That is impressive, considering having a poor offensive coordinator can ruin a season for a good coach or even get him fired. Now Miles keeping Gary Crowton will be a huge mistake imo. It won't surprise me if Crowton's constant shitty performance is the reason Miles loses his job.

We can take Rich as long as Chavis stays.

You are exagerating:
1) Les Miles' greatness
2) ranter affect on HC decision making
3) the dirth of available coaching talent
IMO, the main problem with losing Miles is the potential to lose some very good assistants. The risk (probability) of losing Chavis, Haley, Cooper, Robinson, Wilson, etc.....should CLM leave far outweigh the potential for incremental upgrade at HC. We need to change/upgrade OC/QB coach and all should be well.
Oh, and I DO NOT trust you. Neither on the Les Miles to Michigan nor on the Auburn death nell looming.

You are so pathetic. You need to get a job, man. Go somewhere else and play. You sound like a Gator fan.

Good points Sid. Outside of Crowton, the assistants are pretty solid. The best??? I wouldn't say that but a good solid staff, nonetheless. I personally think we're an OC away from flat out killing the rest of the SEC.
