I have seen the argument made on here quite a few times that a deep run in the NIT would be better then a “probable” early exit in the NCAA tournament for LSU this year. This year’s tournament should put an end to that thought. You never know how a bracket will play out.

2 more conference wins this year probably gets LSU an 8-9 seed. 9 seed Kansas State is now playing a 16 seed in the second round and will have a good chance to end up in the sweet 16. Where they will likely face a good but very young and beatable Kentucky team to possibly advance even further.

The NIT is NEVER better then getting into to the NCAA tournament, regardless of seeding or bracket.

Only an idiot would say that. Anyone who says that should not be taken seriously about any sports related subject

For experience and ability to play multiple more games together, I like the NIT over the NCAA in this scenario

Sure it would’ve been amazing to make the tourney this year, but we had no real chance to make a run

It has been said on here quite a few times. I am sure the majority of people don’t think that way, but some do. Anyway, the point is this year’s LSU team was just a couple of close conferences losses away from likely getting in as an 8-9 seed. And now we see one side of the bracket completely open up for an 8-9 seed to make a deep tournament run. Just something interesting to think about, that is all. Carry on

We could just as easily be getting blown out by 20 as Alabama is to Villanova. Both are good scenarios, but in my opinion this year the NIT is the better scenario for the program at this time.

I missed this, but I’m not surprised. Same people saying this are also huge Ed Orgeron fans.

This was not a big debate contrary to what you're trying to suggest

Youre arguing against a very small set of individuals.

There is always a chance to make a run, as shown by the Kansas St situation this year. LSU won 7 games this year against teams comparable or better than Kanas St.. If LSU makes it into the tournament this year and with some luck of the draw ends up in the South bracket, they would have a very good chance to be playing in the sweet 16. As long as you are in there is a chance to make a deep run. Especially with a team like LSU has that proved throughout the year it can beat tournament quality teams.

I never said it was a “big” debate. But it has been debated on here, as evidenced by the fact that less than 5 minutes after I posted it someone responded saying they preferred the team be in the NIT this year

Well I agree as should anyone. But we found ourselves in the Nit so lets do what we can in that arena.

Same time as they learn to and too. It'll be a while. It's best, than, not too get to bent out of shape.

No one prefers the NIT ever. If they say that, they're lying. And I doubt they said it at any time during the regular season when it looked like we had a decent chance at the NCAA. With that said, it's good for this team to make the NIT and playing ULL made it fun for the NIT.

NCAA >NIT> watching March basketball on TV

But going deeper into NIT> one and done.

Please point to one thing worthy of defending from Ed Orgeron.

I also think that it's better to be in the NCAA than the NIT, even if you get to Madison Square Garden.

However, for all the advancement under Wade and the improvement of Reath and Epps, this team is still too soft inside to expect any run in the Dance. We are also quite inconsistent, especially in the rebounding department.

The future is very bright, but I don't think this team had any chance to get out of the first weekend.

JMHO.
