Who is he?
It’s a shame Cole is only here for a year.
Would be nice to be able to count on FG’s inside 50 yards every year!

Graduate transfer all Americans are beyond rare. There won’t be another Cole. Enjoy him while he’s here.
Hopefully Avery Atkins can be a great kicker.

Ask Saban about recruiting a solid kicker. They don't always turn out well.

Think about Cole Tracey.
He is kicking DII, and honestly his first two years were pretty good, but not great. At some point along the way he decides to graduate in 3 years so that he can get an undergraduate degree and graduate degree within 4 years and still play football at the same time. Has a career year as a junior but no real DI opportunities until a new special teams coach is tasked with finding a hidden gem for a kicking transfer to shore up the kicking game at LSU. He goes from his junior year kicking in front of 1,200 people and thinking about life after football and ends up at a powerhouse SEC football school, kicking in front of 100,000+ people, on the Lou Groza watch list, and has a legit shot at turning his hobby of kicking in to a profession in the NFL.
THAT IS INSANE!

I love Cole just as much as any tiger fan, but he doesn't have NFL distance.

I love the kid and he is highly accurate - just what we needed, but he does not have the leg strength to kick in the NFL. He hits the long ones very low, even the short ones a bit too low, and you have to have more range than he does to make it in the NFL.

Colin Lahay, LCA. Here is some info Barrister posted about him back in January in his rundown of kickers. He's a potential 2 for 1. Kicker and punter.
He also plays Free Safety for LCA but I don't think that will be a next level position for him at 5'11" 175 with a 4.9 forty time. But it does mean, in his case at least, that he is a good tackler on punts or kick offs.
Though I am guessing he will be trying to parlay his skills into a scholarship and I'm not sure he is the guy LSU would offer a scholly to.

Colin Lahaye – Lafayette Christian H.S. (National Rankings: Kohl’s unranked four star kicker, Kohl’s #43 Punter) – Very interesting prospect. I saw him recently in Texas. Charted 8/10 on FG. Like Scheurich, he lacked control on Kick-Offs and crushed a few into the end zone, but also dropped a few short. He is actually a very good punter, averaging 42 + yards with a 4.0 hang. He actually had a few balls up around a 4.3 hang. Hit a last second FG to win State for his HS. With continued development I would not be surprised to him get picked up as a punter who came with the bonus of placekicking skills, if needed.

I'll check but I'm pretty sure the goal posts are located in the same spot in the NFL. Also, maybe he can kick for the Cowboys considering he hit a 54 yard FG in their stadium.

He might not have NFL Distance but their are more then a few teams that would love a guy who is automatic from within 45. Not everyone needs a guy who can hit 55+ moon shots.
