Then CPM should be auto pilot enough for you. They’re both in year 15 & year 15 of Mainieri was better than year 15 of McD

They’ll get it right in 5 after he wins his second title here.

Are you seriously comparing the Louisville program when McDonnell arrived there to the LSU program when Mainieri arrived here?

You could seriously look me in the eye and say that you'd prefer Mainieri returning in 2022 over hiring McDonnell? That McDonnell isn't an upgrade?

You need some serious help dude.

ACC is a legit baseball conference

UNC, Clemson, Miami, FSU, UVA, UL are all really good programs

We just witnessed NC State take down the best SEC school and ND might do the same tomorrow.

Lemme guess. Despite saying you want Godwin you REALLY want Bianco.

THAT is 100% "on-brand" for the LSU good ol' boy network.

You only want Godwin because you’re obsessed with Orgeron and think they look alike. See how this works?

Why is making a few Supers with ECU doing more with less, but making the CWS with Louisville is not?

ECU was pretty damn good before Godwin got there if I remember correctly.

Typical rantings from another "look at these numbers" fan, who has no use for context. Mainieri, for all the success he had early on, did not build LSU. McDonnell built Louisville, and he has nowhere near the kind of resources or national brand of LSU baseball.

He's not my #1 choice, but he's certainly 2 or 3. Mainieri had been a coach a long time before he Came to LSU, and had one CWS appearance. But he built Notre Dame, so LSU gave him a shot, and he obviously did more here with what he had to work with.

Now, we've seen a downward trend, and it's time to move on and he obviously knew that, otherwise he would have made LSU fire him.

Exactly. McDonnell started from scratch at Louisville and took him only 14 years to get to 5 CWS.

CMP paid his dues for 12 years at St. Thomas and Air Force with nothing. Then 12 years at ND with 1 CWS. Then 14 years at LSU with 5 CWS (including 1 Natty and 1 runner-up).

Very different career paths.

Hey Meta, you mentioned McDonnell wasn't your #1 choice. Who you want?

I had Vitello as my number 1 (though his antics have cooled my enthusiasm of that possibility). McDonnell is probably number 2. I struggle with the Corbin thing because, first of all, I don't really believe he's available, but I also don't know if what he's done there is more a product of his recruiting advantages or his coaching. I know he can coach. But how much has the advantage helped him?

I would probably have Corbin 1., but pipe dream. Same as Van Horn and Tadlock (but nothing would shock me with Woody).

My realistic wish list is:
1. McDonnell

(Big Drop-off)

2. Godwin
3. Vitello

(Big Drop-off)

4. O'Connor
5.Bakich
6.Bianco

They only like him because he's the new bandwagon all the cool posters have jumped on. First, all the ranters were on the Vitello bandwagon but when the wheels came off they looked through threads to find the new 'it' candidate. Currently it's McDonnell. It'll be interesting to see which way the wind blows tomorrow.
