I read this morning that Archie will be a guest speaker at the LSU Football Coaches Clinic. I love Archie, one of my all time favorite Saints. Just something about this hits a nerve with me(am I the only one?). Did any of his kids even give LSU a visit? I know the whole Manning and Booty thing(I don't believe that Peyton would have given LSU the time of day regardless). I don't know, maybe should just let this go. I was just curious how other people feel about this.

Payton was the whole booty thing, o and we sucked at the time, Eli wanted to go to were his dad went committed early. I can't blame either one I think there choices turned out well. No hard feelings here.

It hits a nerve with me as well. In 2002 Archiewho? was sitting in Death Valley with an Ole Miss hat, but i think we did ok without the manning boys. In fact if it wasn't for us beating FU in 97 peyton would have had the same amount of SEC Championships as eli.Rohan,Mauck,JR,and Flynn won a few games and a few NC.

Archie who archie who you were TIGERBAIT !!

Yeah, I hate it when parents support their kid.

I don't get the hate for the Mannings. Archie grew up in Mississippi and is the greatest Ole Miss player in history and ya"ll think he should love LSU? I have never heard anyone of them say one bad thing about LSU.

I have a friend that "allegedly" knocked out Eli in High School (rival schools in NO) so no, I laugh every time I see him b/c I think about that story.

+10000. Actually, Archie is always very complimentary of LSU when given the oppurtunity.

Josh Booty was arguably the "Highest rated" HS QB ever, so you really can't blame Peyton for that decision. And Eli just followed in his dad's footsteps, so I can't understand why there would be any ill will due to his decision.

Not to mention we had Curley Hallman.

He threw 4 interceptions in a pickup game in Shreveport last week and then blamed his receivers. It was in all the papers.

Yeah, I don't get the hate for them either, Archie grew up in Mississippi, went to Ole Miss, played for the Saints. It was natural for Eli to want to go to Ole Miss. And Peyton chose Tennessee because of the Josh Booty situation and didn't grow up watching LSU. If the roles were reversed everyone at LSU would love the Mannings. Imagine Archie growing up in Louisiana, goes to LSU, gets drafted by the Oilers, Eli follows his dads footsteps going to LSU, and Peyton goes to Tennessee because of the Josh Booty thing.

Here is a link; it's crazy to think how some people's lives can change so dramatically.

This isn't even relevant. He's a great player, a great role model, and an outstanding citizen of Louisiana. Doesn't matter what his kids did or didn't do.

+1000. Peyton would have strongly considered LSU had we had a better coaching staff at the time.

Sean Payton is not an alum. You oppose him, too?
