Thanks for the tidbit. O must have had a relationship with him at Ole Miss.

Can't remember if he was mentioned in Meat Market.

From Glen Guilbeau's column this morning.

quote:

AUSTIN THOMAS NOT RETURNING TO LSU: Former LSU recruiting assistant Austin Thomas, who left last week for a similar job at Tennessee, ended up not accepting that job. He will also not be returning to LSU.

quote:

REPLACING THOMAS: Among the possible replacements for Thomas is Duke recruiting assistant Kent McLeod, who has the title for director of player personnel there. McLeod has worked at Duke under coach David Cutcliffe since 2008. Prior to that, McLeod, a 1999 Ole Miss graduate from Ackerman, Mississippi, worked in a similar capacity under Cutcliffe when Cutcliffe was Ole Miss' head coach from 2001-04 and under Ed Orgeron when Orgeron was Ole Miss' coach from 2005-07.

Did Tennessee cause LSU to loose one of the main cogs in the personnel dept? Or, is it a good thing this change came about? I have seen this Austin get many accolades on the rant.

Kind of echoing what was said on 104.5 but tRant turned AT into some kind of folk hero. He was very valuable to the program but is replaceable. I would rather have someone who wants to be here than one who will up and bolt (especially right before early signing period). He did it twice, so I wouldn't trust him to not do it again. He wasn't the glue that holds the program together.

To answer your question, I'm not sure if it's a "good thing" that the change came about, but it will not sink LSU football as some might suggest.

Austin was recruiting too many 3 stars any way from what I've gathered from reading this board. Not sure he's irreplaceable

McLeod's wife is also employed by Duke...wonder if she gets a job too

He and his wife, Whitney, who is the Director of Special Events in the athletic department, have a son, Graham, who was born March 8, 2013.

Maybe they can hire her to clean up the mess that seems to be the stadium concessions.

There is not a man alive that can replace Austin Thomas. The guy could break down film, balance the athletic department budget, schedule recruiting travel and get Orgeron coffee, all while playing X-Box Live with 5-star studs.
