Look at all the talent and the QB bama played with. What’s their excuse?!? This is silly

It has nothing to do with their d-line being 10 deep, with 4 starting 1st round draft picks ??

Very true. We coach to not lose instead of playing to take the will out of our opponent.

a lot easier for a qb to not play scared when he’s not running for his life

Or we could have an OC that would design an option for an emergency outlet in those situations.

Well you have to coach not scared first. It starts with Dabo. He ain't scared.

Bingo again

We both coach and play scared against bama and sometimes at the end of close games.

They have better coaches.

We have 5* caliber players (except for QB) on every position group you named next year. Talent is not the issue. We can play up to their level. Yet we don't. That's a loser's mentality. That's playing scared and knowing Bama has beaten us 8x in a row. No excuses
Lol no we don’t.

Name our 5*’s at RB, Oline, Dline and WR. Only I can think of is Jamar Chase, Terrace Marshall and Rashard Lawrence. And QB was the reason Clemson won the game.

The main difference: OL/DL, QB, Experienced WRs, and a real RB.

I meant their defensive line rush. We didn’t have time to pass. Clemson did.

But I agree with being sick of our offensive philosophy that is terrified to open things up and try something different .

You can say that again. What's amazing is that Burrow performed as well as he did, with no pass blocking, and CEH and Brosette were able to come through with decent seasons, with no run blocking. The LSU OL was weighed in the balance, and found wanting.

The biggest difference is that they have a consistent, cogent scheme, and all the players buy in. That's why they don't have the same amount of attrition of both players and coaches. Their OL is better because they understand how scheme can highlight and mitigate their strengths and weaknesses.

Dabo is clearly a coach who has a vision and can implement it. I don't trust O to have any vision at all.

Would be nice to see LSU play like that.

We did against UGA. Unfortunately, as the poster rightly said, we play scared against other teams and when we get a lead we let up on the opponent.

Ultimately, this is why I never see LSU (or any SEC team) beating Alabama in the near future.

Maybe not.....but that beat down last night may give people more confidence that Bama isn't the "unbeatable" juggernaut that they appear to be...

Trevor Lawrence would be #1 overall if he could come out this year
Travis Etienne is a heisman caliber RB
Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins are for sure 1st round talents
They have NFL Olineman
They have 3 guys playing on the line that are top 2 round picks even without Dexter Lawrence.
And a veteran secondary.

Agree on DL, wil get to QB later. But....

Y'all act like we haven't had those things.
Etienne is good, but easy on the Heisman talk. Meanwhile we just came off a stretch with Leonard Fournette AND Guice. Etienne is no better than either, maybe not even as good.

Chase, Marshall, Sullivan, Jefferson, etc...
We HAVE elite talent at WR. We don't have a scheme to get them the ball in space.

OL... Clemson and LSU recruit at the same level in this category. They get their guys to stay, that helps them. But quick routes and not going max protect EVER helps them more. Alabama has elite talent on the DL, yet had no time to get to Sunshine. Their OL played well, but don't tell me they're more talented than Bama's DL. You're lying if you say that.

Veteran secondary? Wow. We had the #1 safety in the country, the best cb (greedy), Fulton, who was great, and a senior (veteran) S in Battle. And have had elite secondary play for years. You think that made the difference?

QB, kid is talented and cool as a cucumber. It helps that he's been coached to a system that allowed a true frosh to have success. Joe doesn't have his arm, but he's smart, experienced, and tough af. The difference shouldn't be what we saw in November vs what we saw last night.

Don't look at it as LSU vs Clemson. Look at it as both vs Bama. We are averaging 3.333 points per game against bama the past 3 years. Hell, go back to Miles' last few years too. Clemson didn't beat Alabama. They demolished them! The slight if any talent difference between LSU and Clemson has so little to do with that.
It's coaching/scheme.

Hopefully this game lights a fire under the asses of our coaches AND players. Bama has been in our heads for years. Fans too.

See? You're looking at only THIS year. What about the past 8?

We've had 5* RBs, secondary, WRs, OL, DL. I'll give you QB, but he doesn't do what he did last night in any system we've run since Crowton left.

Coaching #1, not playing scared is correct. We've hyped the Bama game to this insane level that our players get psyched out
