Remember Alabama was on probation,, no bowl game so they scheduled Hawaii which was ranked and beat them, that helped us also. Also Les said we were undefeated. Hawaii trip was Bamas bowl trip.

It is a great tribute to LSU Football that we have won a NC with three different HC's in a row, at the helm. It is also a tribute to those three men. I choose to honor them for what they did for LSU and not denigrate them for whatever reason.

It's literally the only time a team with two regular season losses has ever won an NC

So? The National Title is for a given year, who is the champion that year, how many losses or wins that team had is irrelevant. Everyone that year had 2 losses. What kind of pathetic fan tries to delegitimize one of only 4 National Titles because you don't like the coach and you don't like him simply because you think he wasn't good. What other fan base would do that

quote:

Most years that would get you a Citrus Bowl bid or something

We had the same record the year before and got the Sugar Bowl and finished #3. Most years 5-3 in the West gets you at best 3rd, in 2001 we won the SEC Title with it.

quote:

You're seriously going to compare him to Spurrier who dominated the SEC with 5 conference titles and revolutionized how offense was played here

no i was comparing the situation of his lone championship season you pathetic boob . Florida needed unranked 7-4 Texas to upset 2 time defending National Champion Nebraska AND Ohio State to beat Arizona State in the Rose Bowl to have a shot. Miles need WVU and Mizzo to lose, the only difference is when those teams lost. If the BCS was in place in 1996, then the title game would have Been FSU-ASU and Spurrier would have no NC. The point you are missing in your blind hatred of Les Miles is that in CFB where there was never any kind of multi round playoff like other sports and required a lot of luck to "win" a National Title.

if you are talking about 2007 that's not correct. Alabama was not on probation (you think Saban takes that job if they were still on probation?) They beat Colorado in the Sun Bowl to finish with a winning season. We were the clear #2 after the final week of the season. #3 in the final BCS rankings was Va Tech, a team we beat the ever loving hell out of. Funny how all the Miles bashers love to bring up 2005 Tennessee or 2006 OM and never mention that one but i digress

Perhaps you are thinking of 2003. Bama's played 13 games that year with Hawaii being the last. USC also played Hawaii that year, Hawaii losing to Boise is what helped us in 2003.

What is it with you bashing Les Miles, he might not be a great coach, but he is a good one and did keep us a top 15 program. People wanted the next Nick Saban and he or very few live up to those expectations.

Miles was a good coach until college teams started implementing the spread offenses. He failed to recognize this unlike saban and decided to stay in the past with the offenses and lean on the defense way to much. He lost a lot of people after that 2011 national championship game.

And Saban won his with Dinardo’s players, and Orgeron won his with Mile’s players. So in reality, none of the 21st century championships count. Take down the banners.

Yes, having everyone in front of you lose is the definition of "stumbling in" or backing in if you prefer. It's the only way that buffoon could've won an NC

It’s the only way Saban won his LSU Natty, too. Half Saban’s nattys have been won when he was on the outside looking in, and everyone in front of him lost.

It only took 8 OT’s for LSU to get 2 losses. God, what a shite team huh?

Wouldn’t the emphasis be on “luck” if you are highlighted everyone else losing? How is other teams losing “dumb”?

Miles inherited a Monster of a roster. I won't say how many NC he could have won, but LSU could have been in the mix till the end a couple more times for sure. Miles was just not good enough. I love Skip Bertman but Miles was a horrible hire.
