Because clearly LSU was a different team after 2012. It doesn't matter though because according to you and Rick daddy miles was doing great and you have no idea why he was fired. You just know that it was a conspiracy hatched in the AD's office and was patently unfair

Miles wasnt doing great and was fired for losing to inferior teams and im glad he was fired.

in general yes. Conference losses are much much worse than bowl game losses. And the Troy was a toss out. Fluke.

Miles was making a habit of losing to the ole miss and Arkansas of the conference those last few years. That’s unacceptable.

Didn't Ole Miss beat Alabama one of those years?

They had one of the best teams money could buy. O didn't have to deal with that.

That's the point everyone is making by bringing up Miles. Not that Miles should still be here or anything like that. Just that we've seen this movie before and it hasn't always ended the way would like

I keep seeing them bring up 2015. Has anyone brought up strength of schedule for the first 8 games of 2015. If I'm not mistaken the wheels came off after the bama loss. aTm saved Les's job. LSU has already had a loss this year I don't think that the two seasons are comparable.

Apparently you didn't read his post on why Les got fired and Rick has always been on miles nuts. Both are claiming that there was no reason to fire Les.

I didn't say that.

If performance was the reason then there's no reason Alleva should've felt compelled to back out of the firing in 2015.

The conversation is very, very simple. Everyone agrees that Coach O has done a very good job up to this point. However, we have seen in the past that things can go south after the Bama game. That's why 2015 is being brought up as a comparison. Declaring the season an outstanding season at this point doesn't compute to some. That doesn't mean that anyone believes Miles should never have been fired.

I'm not there yet but a good performance against Bama would do it... Even if we don't win. If I just see hope for it to eventually happen, I'm in.

The Ensminger hire is still very much undecided to me. Our offense is bad. Let's not kid ourselves. By most measures it is bad. If it wasn't for Cole Tracy and our defense we wouldn't be here.

I would rather lose to a Troy every blue moon than lose to either ole miss or Arkansas every year like what miles was doing

1. Get the AD to give Dave Aranda the $$ and retain him
2. Recruit and sign Joe Burrow
3. Recruit and sign Cole Tracy
4. Giving Ensminger the OC job (valuing staff cohesion over some young shiny OC that is ultimately aiming for their next job)

Another great addition that has been a huge boost this year:
--Adding Avery Atkins for kickoffs

All great things for the program, no doubt.

Although I don’t think 1 or 2 are primarily attributable to O.

No one had to “convince” Alleva to pay up for Aranda. His job was as tied to that transaction as O’s is. There is no way Alleva was letting him walk no matter what it took.

Burrow, by all accounts, was won over by E and his pitch to his father. That makes O’s move with E at #4 more important, but O had little to do with Burrow’s decision itself.

As for Tracy, he is the one that contacted our staff and pitched himself as worthy of a spot, even for one year, not the other way around. O gets credit for seeing the potential impact he could have though and giving him the offer he sought out.

E has been good, but obviously the real test is this weekend, just like in 16. He gave himself a QB groomed by Urban Meyer this time though, and I’m excited to see how that changes things.

Atkins was a fantastic addition as well and O gets full credit there.

So he put the work in this offseason so that his staff could hit the ground running against Miami and they haven’t let up. Great staff doing a really good job no question.

NY6 has always been the bar, and that is an extremely attainable goal at this point, and we could certainly reach even higher if some things break our way this weekend

If we lose on Saturday, we're probably just in the hunt for a Sugar Bowl berth.

That may be true but...

today, we're a 14 point underdog to the number 1 team in the country

What the frick does that have to do with anything? I'm pretty sure the fact that we're the #3 team in the CFP rankings means we're in the national championship hunt.

Neither should be acceptable and neither should be thrown out as data points in a debate because both have merit.

Trying to get the negas to acknowledge this before the season was impossible. None of them would hear it. Their minds were made up. Most of them haven't actually changed their minds they're just waiting for a misstep.

My point is that we were in this exact position 3 years ago and our head coach was nearly (should have been) fired at the end of the season. Being in the hunt in late October/early November doesn't an outstanding season make.

Did we face the same gauntlet of a schedule in those years?

Because I remember 2012 and 2015. The rankings don't mean shite until after the Alabama game.
