Yes and no, relationship wise it can hurt. But once a new staff is in and they have passed their tests then no. What they said was that they wouldnt know who would be the new coaches until Jan. Thats always subject to change, thats all I know as of this moment...

OK that makes sense

but are you saying that the termination of the coaches can affect the number of visits, etc... in recruiting?

not sure of the exact rule, but the head coach can take more in-home visits during a time that there are vacancies on the staff...the main reason Miles waited so long to name Mallory/Peveto last year.

If O is involved, this would make sense since he is with the Saints til the end of the year...and Chavis would be content hanging out for a month longer

Please don't let this be your concrete information...

Yha, I'm getting this from defensive players but their can always be a limitation as to what they know. They just confirmed that that portion of the staff is being let go.

Firing coaches AND THEN allowing them to go out and recruit is a no-no!

We need them talking kids into coming here, not their new gig.

Two letters...B & S...miles will not fire Mallory, but rather move him back to DB's & make him Assoc Head Coach, let Bradley Dale leave, like he should have in January, then hire a real DC, who has SEC experience and who can scheme...Chavis is the natural choice...and it would make sense to do that before the Music City Bowl

sooooo, we won't have any defensive coaches for the bowl game?

We didn't have any for the season and still won 7 games.

I think he meant that the head coach can make more visits, not the outgoing ones.

Well, Dan thats what they are telling me. Actually they like Peveto, but not Mallory, but then again there could be a point to that.

Why would Kentucky or Vanderbilt care about who LSU is hiring as our Defensive Coordinator?

While I am high on Vic Koenning.. if this info is true it seems likely that our DC would have to be coming from the NFL or a NCAA team in a late season bowl. Jack Del Rio stand a chance of getting canned?
