I second that statement moneyshot! Oh and about Gray forceing things because he played ball at TT, I agree. I think he calms down and takes the reigns. His ball handling skills and play in transition is very very impressive. I can def see him getting key opponents in early fowl trouble as well. He's lighting quick and has good awareness when driving. With a little help from the bench I can really see this team making some noise.

I'll agree with OP to a degree that it's promising. We came back despite playing terrible. We are undoubtedly talented but haven't started playing well together yet. 3's have got to be pulled back. We did the same thing in the first half of the opener, then it was adjusted. This team's skill is getting to the hoop. Mickey is much improved, Martin's a beast, and if Gray is going to the rack, he's not passing. And shouldn't be any hate on Johnny Jones, give this team time; you rather Trent Johnson?

Quarterman and Patterson can really play some D on the perimeter. Patterson made a couple of really nice defensive plays in the first half and Quarterman's hustle chasing the guy off the inbound led to that ridiculous Martin steal and slam. He's a complete disaster on offense but we need him in the game for the things he can do on defense.

is it just me or does it seem that for the last 10 years we've had a PG that likes to go crazy with the out of control dribbling and shot selection?

I agree. And hopefully Coach Jones will also blend Coach Musselman's expertise & experience in the team development as well as X&O during the game.

"Martin is a special player, he is what we thought he was."

Cranky, special is not the correct word. He's an enigma for sure. Both he and Mickey have no floor game. I'm actually happy about that because it pretty much tells me one of them will return. Neither will get a guaranteed 1rst round grade IMO

No reasonable defense strategy and no one to knock down the 3's will make this a long season!

Well I mean you answered your own question, we stopped attacking because we couldn't find driving lanes against their zone.

driving the ball off the dribble isnt the only way to attack a zone. you can overload one side, pass quickly until someone over commits, or you can enter the ball into the high post and run cutters through the lane. we didnt try any of that.

Yea that's what I'm saying, we didn't do any of that, we kept trying to just beat ppl 1 on 1 which is pointless against a sagging 2-3 like that

The fact that we needed to show heart to beat TTU in OT (at home for that matter) is disconcerting
