I didn't read the whole thread if my add has been mentioned. I did catch the WAFB report. Seems the command decision is tomorrow 10am. The one add I have is third hand info from Bertman- there is a possibility of moving the game to earlier in the day as an answer to some of the logistics issues.

Lookd like the latest projection has it going even more west, looks like the game should be on if it stays like this. Get those players in the air on the way over to BR.

seriously its a tropical storm and what 4 days away
Posted on 8/28/08 at 11:13 pm to Kramer26
They're jumping the gun so they don't frick up again like they did with Katrina.
I remember I woke up Sunday morning, only about 20 hours before landfall...
and Nagan said they would make it a mandatory evacuation.
It hit the next morning. They waited way too long.
So now they want to start 3 days in advance....
Who knows...

The perspective is that you can't have mass hysteria everytime there is a tropical storm by Jamaica.

What the governors office said tonight was that they were "thinking" about starting contraflow on saturday night. They did not give a time, it could be midnight on Saturday, it could be 8pm. No one said contraflow was going to start on Saturday, so it's a bit premature to start wishing death and destruction for a game that has not been touched right now. Everything is still on including the party out front of the PMAC as of tonight.
I am pretty sure the gov. said he wanted a 70 hour window so they could get everyone out that wanted to leave. They have pushed back their projected start time each day b/c of the track and storm speed.
No one is going to endanger public safety to play a game, but also, the PMAC was still full of people when they played the UT game in '05, so it's not like it can't happen and a football game happen too.
Just a little patience and perspective right now people.
Thanks for the post MC. I am hoping to wake up tommorow morning and see the track shifted a little more to the west, closer to the La/Tx line.
I personally think it'll be an east texas landfall, so that's the only reason I'm upset with this whole situation. I have no problem with the well being of the people, I encourage it!
But I think postponing the game is jumping the gun is just a bit to shaky. I know the pressure is on for Jindal to do everything opposite of Blanco, but this is a bit much.

Apparently just being a moron because I can't understand that it takes 2-3 days or more for someone to get out of the way of a storm.
Because people are idiots, and need our inept government to tell them what to do. And they are all going to leave at the same time. And likely in the same direction.

Sports2,
Thanks for the update. I heard on the Gordy/Hanigriff show that there needs to be 3 hours after the LSU game to clear LSU traffic. Then contraflow could start. By my math, if contraflow needed to start before midnight Saturday, the game is in trouble (played earlier?).

I watched him say get the frick out on the 10 o'clock news Friday. Looks like you waited too long, not him.

no your perspective is fricked up bc we are now hyper active to any storm even near us.
never mind that the path has moved over and it has slowed down.

They should just move the game to 11 am like people are saying it will be well over with by then

might as well have the game and just let it play out...you are going to sit in traffic either way, just face it. Its inevitable.
seriously...I'll probably send more money for aid if I'm able to watch the LSU game.
