I'm sorry but what exactly have you seen that makes you think he is elite? Thus far I have seen nothing whatsoever that suggest he is elite. The one thing I did notice though during the Chattanooga game is he is quite a bit slower than than Danny Etling. If he is slower than Danny Etling, then how do you figure he will evade the rush of Alabama and other elite teams?

I don't think we start Brennan right away and I think Etling stays the starter the remainder of the season unless injury or a complete collapse occurs. That being said, it is pretty clear how talented Brennan is. The UTC game he threw a dart to Sullivan 20+ yards down the field in full stride that hit him in the chest, but he dropped it. His decision making is quick, his release is quick and his velocity is elite. He's still a true freshman so he needs to learn to read SEC defenses and absorb the play book, but it's obvious how good he can be. The difference between him and Harris is he has the accuracy to go with the arm strength. He also makes quick decisions that Harris could not. His ability to get the quick release and velocity to target gives him an advantage over Etling.

He needs time to develop, but I have no doubt this kid will be very good.

I wouldn't be alarmed about recruiting class usually this early, but its nearly full, which is not the norm for us in September.

Hopefully we get Surtain and Terrace Marshall and a couple very talented big uglies. If we do that, I'll be step back from the ledge.
Agreed.

This is what will separate him from DE sooner rather than later. The gap is significant.

And Brennan is a shiftier runner than most people give him credit for. Go back and watch some of his highlight films. He can expand the pocket, he can escape to rush and he can extend the play all the while looking to throw the ball before he runs. If he has to run he has surprising speed for his size. Plus he gets down or gets out abounds to live for the next play. He is a very smart and well coached quarterback.

I completely forgot about Chaisson and Phillips.

Still find myself thinking about Chaisson as a DE though. My brain hasn't switched to the 3-4.

I would prefer that he keep the running to a minimum. I don't want him decapitated by SEC defenses.

He shouldn't be judged in 4 games after completely changing the offensive philosophy of the team.

That was his decision and absolutely should be judged by it, along with every decision that he makes as the HC.
Changing the offensive philosophy was the one thing that virtually everyone agreed needed to happen at the end of Miles tenure, even among Miles supporters. There's really no arguing with that decision. However, you shouldn't judge the results after 4 games after making the change that was needed (that everyone wanted) to a vastly different system that our personnel is not ideally suited to. This is too radical a change not to have bumps in the road.

From the coaches and people who see him daily his arm strength, ability to make reads very quickly and poise is very rare for a true freshman. He could never amount to anything special but that would mean a lot of people were wrong.

Accounted for over 16,000 yards of offense over 170 touchdowns in three years in high school. I don't care what anybody says that does not happen unless you are Elite. Look it up see how many people have done that in the history of high school football!!!!

I hope you are right, but often times there is no correlation between high school results and college results for QBs coming to play in the SEC.

Sure would be nice to see a LSU QB winning games rather than simply hoping they don't loose games.

Around 1980, Bobby Joe Douglas, a Louisiana high school basektball player averaged 54 points per game. Went to ULM and barely saw the floor.

High school and college are just different games. High school stats are great, but they don't mean much once they get on campus at LSU.

My biggest concern today is the same as it has been for years. We Need less DB's and more lineman. This class need to fill out with a shite ton of linemen.
