Is this: Les does not engineer his offense around the skill-set of his QB. His philosophy is to intentionally minimize the role of the QB in the O scheme.

This is not necessarily reflected statistically in run:pass ratio or personnel sets or formations or pace or YPG, etc.

How often have you watched other teams play and their offense appears functional and then you watch us and it looks so clumsy, so unpracticed, so dysfunctional?

Moreover, in terms of competing for championships, getting this corrected is more important than another great recruiting class, hiring Aranda, flushing Alleva, or banishing piped-in noise from TS.

I am hopeful. And if it does happen there will be a lot of very happy Tiger fans this Fall.

His first priority will always be to execute Bo Schembeckler's offense and to personify him in every way..

Why do people post here on subjects like this when they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about?

I don't disagree with you, but I am running out of hope that he ever changes anything. I think the offense that we have been seeing is the offense you will always see. We got lucky with a very good college QB in Mett with two all-world WRs that season. I'm hopeful, but it's hard to get too excited about it anymore.

I remember when this board had intelligent posters and was worth reading. Sad now.

It's way to conservative. We the fans have a want to embarrass teams. Miles sits on leads and takes mercy knees with 5 minutes left in games.

Truly original idea and post. How has no one else come up with this by now?

I am ok with honor.

I thought they threw the ball well during Lee's senior year.
Until the refs let Bama hit Lee after the play, he was doing fine.

Mett was good enough except he has feet of stone.

If Quinn makes either catch, LSU beats Bama.
the first one was a decent throw. the 2nd one was tough.

You are blaming Miles for Quinn dropping the ball, Mett having feet of stone, JJ being JJ.

They are kids. Enjoy the games.
We hope Harris is better. if he is better, LSU will win nearly all their games.
They will have home field vs Bama and Ole Miss. Maybe that's enough.

Only every year. I want to be excited like the rest of the crew here, but I've been burnt way too many times. 9-3 here we come!

bull shite. unfortunately our qb's skill sets have been pretty damn weak. qb's have to know how to pass and actually be pretty accurate with his throws. no matter what "system" is used but esp the spread.

you don't have a clue what you're talking about. if we "maximized" the role of the QB we'd be fricked. we'd leave Fournette on the shelf and put the game in the hands of......? just name one QB you want dominating our offense.

lastly, almost every team that allows the QB to dominate doesn't win championships. the only example I can think of is cam newton.

you are stating the end result of the problem (s) associated with our offense. everyone knows this. what everyone doesn't know is WHY. is it coaching? is it QB? etc, etc

there is no FUNDAMENTAL flaw in our offense. it's a combo of poor execution. imo, the OL and the QB.

Yep, he needs to prove it this year. If the only time you can have a good college passing game is with a 5th year JUCO QB (future NFL starter) and two future pro bowl WRs, then something is INSANELY wrong.

They should focus most importantly on passing the ball (and we won't know this until it happens in a game so spare me thing lip service Miles has talked for a couple months). They should evaluate the talent that is most adept at passing the ball and then aquire that talent. They should mold the offense to fit the QB, NOT stick the guy in almost the same exact system when he has a different set of skills. We should get a QB coach that can teach college QBs (seems like Craig will do at least some of that), not keep the development of the QB to a guy who only knows how to polish up top notch products.

I mean there was a 7 year gap between 3000 yard passers at LSU. There was a 6 year gap between 3000 yard team passing seasons. Ridiculous for the amount of talent at WR and TE that we stockpile yearly. LSU hasn't had less than a 4 star start at QB since 2008 and that was it for Miles's tenure here.

Both of LSU's national championship offenses had the perfect balance of run and pass. In 2003 LSU had 3257 pass yards 30 TDs to 2600 rush yards 24 TDs. In 2007 LSU had 3154 pass yards 29 TDs to 2998 rush yards 35 TDs. In 2003 LSU passed the ball 401 times and in 2007, 442 times. LSU's defense gave up 11 ppg in 2003 and 19.9 ppg in 2007 (that's with two OT games and having to face heisman boy Tebow).

I have faith that Aranda will do his part. Miles/Cam leave me with no faith in the passing game and only just a wait and see mindset.

Right, cause Bo loved the dual threat QB.
