Dang, you guys are brutal. LSU football is now bigger than someone's son ? Now, if his son would have said "Dad, lets go so we can see the Alabama and Miss State game", that might be a little bit different

Didn't Troy's coach even admit he was shocked.

Something like that. I believe the word "suckers" was used to describe the fearful fanbase.

I have the same excuse and at that same moment, except I waited until there was a minute left.

He pulled his knit cap down over his entire face and left it there for nearly 15 minutes without saying a word. I looked over at his friend of the same age shivering and not looking at the game, and decided it was in my best interest to leave.

I live with the regret anyway.

The "my children/family/who ever" was cold/sick thing isnt used to much, but I dont really mind if thats the case. But EVERYONE knows damn well 95% of the people who left, booked it because of the teams play.

I was disgusted, and proud the game was not on TV.. not because of the teams play, but because of the teams "fans".

Those with kids get a free pass to go home if they feel the need to do so, IMHO.

You sound like Nancy Pelosi, pulling all of our troops out of Iraq now is patriotic.

My kids know when they go with me, it's til the end. They were dressed properly.

When my kid sits still without saying anything for 15 minutes with his knit cap pulled down over his entire face, shite has got serious.

Sometimes we forget that the kids that young don't have the whiskey to keep them warm. (I know, I know, medically speaking drinking does not literally keep you warm, but at least you don't mind as much) And I guess seven is a little young for checking out the hot co-eds and keeping the blood pumping.

But, heck, there are kids a lot younger than that that I've seen skiing on mountains in a lot colder weather. I'd suggest - long johns, long sleeve shirt, sweater, jacket, coat, thick socks, wool cap, those hand warmer packets that you shake up, etc.

You don't even need to go that far. How about just the rest of the country outside the sunbelt states that go to football games everyday? Did you watch the Bills/Browns on Monday, the stadium was packed and it was in the mid teens. I can't believe that Louisianas are THAT incapable of dressing for weather in the 40s.

Here's a theory: The fans that left early Saturday are the real, devoted fans that care about the football program. The team was mailing it in. No one can honestly debate that. And as a result they were getting hammered by what, in the end, proved to be a decidedly inferior opponent. And they didn't appear to care. For the entire first half. There was no sign that players on either side of the ball were reacting to the embarrassment. What's a fan to do? Cheer loudly, and thus reinforce bad behavior? Doesn't seem reasonable. Boo? As many here have observed, that's not appropriate for amateur athletes. But by getting up and walkng out, the fans sent a message loud and clear that they, at least, weren't going to put up with the nonsense. I suggest that this did as much to wake up the team as anything that the coaches or the so-called leaders on the team did. The fans who stayed, well, good for them, they got to see a fun 4th quarter. But I suggest that perhaps they had no more impact on the game in the second half than they did in the first.
So instead of excoriating the fans who left, let's give them a big round of applause for letting the team know what they expect: an honest effort. The message was received and, with a little bit of luck and a lot of effort, the humiliating defeat was avoided.

Sure. I see the analogy. Quite comparable, in fact.

So, let me get this straight. The team can "mail it in", but the fans can't? Pretzel logic.
