It's not all about yards. 123 of that came from 2 plays.
I hate when my offense has big play potential!!!

They will pin their ears and come after etling and put 8 in the box if we don't.
the last 2 seasons when they dominate Fournette and the run game, they didn't stack the box much.

Why would they start now?

Mostly with short passes that was padded by run after the catch. Etling struggles with presnap reads & being able to throw with anticipation of his receivers breaking open at the top of their routes.

100%

Which is why Canada should be credited with such a great game plan to get production like he did out of our limited QB.

Canada can only work with what he has at his disposal, and it's a limited QB.

And yea, the Bama game likely won't go well, no matter how great a plan Canada comes up with but I'd prefer to hold my complaint on the Bama game until it actually happens, and instead be happy af my limited offense just went for 40 points and 593 yards.

. Yep. I'm glad he's not doing any coaching. It shows with how much they've improved. He's doing the right thing letting the coaches coach and just recruit those jucos

I agree with everything you said. It was a great game plan, great play calling & great execution against Ole Miss last night. Canada attacked their weaknesses.

What scares me with this upcoming game with Alabama is that what Bama "struggles" with defending is what this offense struggles to execute. That would be the intermediate & deep passing game especially down the seams.

The way Saban positions his LBs & safeties, it makes his defense vulnerable down the seams. The teams have beat Alabama as of late, have had success attacking the seams. They also have had success with their receivers winning one on one matchups outside the hash marks. The Tigers offense currently cannot do any of those things well.

For a QB to attack the seams, they have to hang tough in the pocket & be able to throw with anticipation. Those are both shortcomings in Etling's game.

Unfortunately, I think this is spot on.

To be able to consistently use that you must have great accuracy AND anticipation. If there's one area that I'd say Etling truly does suck it's anticipation. And his accuracy isn't bad, but nose dives with pressure.

Add to this those seam routes when run with RB and/or TEs require a clean release to help with timing. Bama is very good at that. They're more likely to shove your TE into your QB rather than see him release or tackle your RB and sacrifice a LB in coverage. And many of our guys suck at getting good release. That's been part of Etling's "accuracy problem" all along... receivers aren't where he expects them when he expects them because they're spending 1/2- 1 seconds hand fighting or slipping.

It needs work but Etling threw for over 200 yards last night.

I really don't think y'all understand what a passing game is. It's like the first week when the QB at Mizzu threw for like 500 yards and 7 TDs. Sounds impressive, but when you look at the tape, most of his yards and touchdowns came on screen passes that went for 50,60, or more yards.

That is what Etling is right now. Short sideline passes where the yardage is completely based on what the pass catcher can do or how much space he has in front of him. Deep passes that are already 50/50 shots but made even worse because of drops or Etling just throwing too short.

He has a lot of problems in his game. Everybody loves his toughness, but that amounts to nothing as far as actual passing goes. We have what we have, an extremely limited game manager who will put his body on the line to make a play.

This in turn limits what Canada can do, and what the offense can become.

We should have never fired shots at Canada and his system. It’s obvious that someone else was meddling in the play calling. If O can sit back, focus on recruiting, and not impede the coordinators on doing their jobs, we might win a lot of games.

Maybe it was the fact that our O-line has been struggling and our backs have been injured. Play calling seems to be the same. The guys are healthy and playing with heart.

That's on the qb not Canada's playing calling.

I'm curious to see what Canada cooks up to deal with Bama's defense. You know Saban will spend the next 2 weeks defending the jet sweep, so we better have something else planned.

Pretty amazing what happens when your team returns starters back to the line up huh!
