There's no excuse for you not yelling at the top of your lungs with 2 minutes to go, in the fourth quarter of the N. Texas game -- BANDWAGONER!!!

Many diehard, blue-collar fans who can’t believe this day has come mourn this icon; they find it hard to fathom this stadium survived the Years of Unspeakable Darkness but could not survive these dreadful diseases . They pray for a miracle; that somehow the spirits of old will aid in resurrecting this giant. Until that wonderful day arrives, the faithful will continue to support their beloved team from all corners of the globe and bitch at those who killed it
That sure is a bunch of hyperbole...considering the crowds at the AU and Florida games last year. Yeah...the atmospehere at those two sucked. Nothing like those barnburner games from the 70's and 80's against Rice.

forgive me YA but I just can't get up for Troy like my daddy did in 1979 for USC
I just don't have it in me

The Florida game last year was one of the loudest times i've ever heard Tiger Stadium. You people must be delusional.

I am fairly certain the crowd at the beginning of the Bama game on Sat. is going to stink - heck I doubt anyone will even go

Such a cop out and a common theme amongst many fans....u go to watch the Tigers not the opponent. Yes, I understand people want the tight, fingers crossed drama, but Tiger fans should go to see the Tigers regardless AND stay. Unless, of course, you have something more important to do.

I agree with the premise of this thread. I have long thought that raising the prices would knockout the real fan. But in an era where it is about the money and not about the atmosphrere we will have the same problem for some time if the program stays at this high performance.
Hell, I wish we could only admit people into the game that yell. That will never happen. There are tons of people that sit on their arse. There are tons of people that yell their arse off. Last year I came home from every SEC hoarse.
It pisses me off to see students around me not yelling. DEAF Valley has lost its luster.

You can't afford what people were charging for Tulane tickets? I call BS.

This thread should be titled "Still Trying To Be Relevant: A Middle Ager's Exaggeration of the Old Days."
I've had the same seats since the early 1990s (North Endzone, right outside the student section). The 1997 Florida, 2003 Georgia, 2007 Va. Tech (beginning), and 2007 Florida games were the most electric I've seen. How many threads like this are we going to see until some of you guys realize that the past wasn't always as great as you remember it?

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
If anything, there were a lot more, (percentage wise, at least), blue blood types populating TS "back in the day," than there are now.

How long have you been going to LSU games? Booing and leaving isn't anything new.

NFL games are more fun than present-day Tiger stadium games.

Here, here.
Just taking the original author's time period (2003-2008) that Tiger Stadium is dying, these are the games I could think of off the top of my head in which the crowd's level of volume was extremely impressive:
UGA 03
Auburn 03
Oregon State 04
Tennessee 05
Auburn 05
Ole Miss 06 (The place was nowhere near full, but it got LOUD during that fourth quarter)
Va Tech 07
UF 07
Auburn 07
Arkansas 07 (I would say the volume on that 4th and 10 play was the loudest Tiger Stadium got last year outside of the announcement of the USC loss during UF)
So, that's 10 games over that time period where I distinctly remember the crowd having impressive moments. The fact of the matter is that when there is an "important" game the Tiger Stadium crowd still delivers. Even UGA this year showed flashes of intensity from the crowd. The problem was that whenever the fans got truly into it, UGA responded with a big play and deflated the crowd.
I have no doubt that Bama will be added to this list after this weekend. Tiger Stadium is not dead. People just naturally place the past in higher regard then it actually was.

The boos sounded that they were coming from the student section. I sit in the south endzone and don't remember to many around me booing.
I have been a season ticket holder now for about 9 years in the South End Zone. For 7 of those 9 years, the same people sat next to me. Since the tradition fund contiues to rise each year, the last 2 years I have been seeing more and more new fans around me. The actual season tickets holders only come to the big games the rest of the games I get stuck by someone I don't know and who wants to sit down and be quiet to watch the game. The south endzone is know where near as loud as the old days.

I applaud the TAF's efforts to take seats away from the "5th generation" ticket holders that sat between the 20yd lines on either sides, paid little to no fees, didnt stand and didnt cheer very much during the games.
You know the type of guy whose great grandfather taught English at LSU and he has 8 seats together on the home side 40yd line, 20 rows up in his family's name since 1928

"The Death of Tiger Stadium" is grossly exaggerated...
When I was in college in the late 80's there were games when the students didn't show up, fans
left early and some games just didn't have that much electricity...and we had some great years.
I think the difference is we didn't have this website for all these fans to get together and discuss their opinions...as mis-guided as they are...

I've had the same season tickets for last 10 years and I actually thought the crowd got pretty damn loud for UGA. Of course, it was dissapointing some people left before the end but get over it. You can't control other people. If the guy standing next to you leaves, scooch over and scream twice as loud.
Also, it's funny that people are on here bitching about how bad we suck and also bitching about us being bad fans. I have a feeling there is some hypocritical overlapping happening here.
News flash. If you boo our freshman QB and then say someone else is a shitty fan because they left early, you are less self aware than Michael Scott and Andy Bernard put together. (That's a lot for those of you who don't watch The Office)
