The laziness all around was disappointing to see and it’s not the first time it’s happened this year or last year.
This part I agree with and it's always on the coach to have his team ready to play. My disagreement with the mid week conversation is with the result affecting our postseason position.

Do you see this team winning in Omaha?
We certainly have the talent for it, but we need Cabrera and the pitchers to get healthy to do so. Also, we need to see what happens with 2nd base. Can Dugas come in and play that role? Remains to be seen.

I’m just saying that an LSU baseball team should never look like they did last night against Southern.
I think we can all agree with that.

Once you understand that PM is a mentally weak coach you can understand why his teams consistently lose to inferior opponents and always finish the season with a choke job.
A great example was when PM thought Smith was seriously injured early this season and said “I saw our whole season flash before my eyes”.
Does that sound like a man who handles adversity well? As the team is a reflection of the head coach it’s easy to see why PM teams are soft and don’t possess the mental toughness it takes to win national championships.

I don’t understand what’s wrong with fans being upset about a mid-week loss to a SWAC team whose pitcher had a no-hitter going to the 5th. I’m not saying jump off a cliff, the seasons over type panic. I just don’t see a problem being upset over a loss.
I'm in agreement with you. But around here, you aren't allowed to have an actual opinion, however rational, and still be considered a "real" fan. You're supposed to paint a beautiful picture with your words, no matter what you actually saw.
It's gotten so pathetic, that I can say "I think we're going to sweep this weekend", and I'll get downvotes, simply because there are bums who follow me around and troll, because they didn't like something I said a few days ago, a week ago, or a month ago. People bookmark what you say, if it isn't sunshine and cinnamon farts.

No you can have an opinion, but we are gonna call you out on it if it sucks. Saying they played terrible last night or that they were lackadaisical is fine. Saying that it is an absolute embarrassment or that lsu wont get to host a regional because of it will get you called out, because itll show that you lack perspective on the sport as a whole

That's perfectly reasonable, and I agree. But that isn't how it actually plays out on this board. You don't just get called out for going off the deep end. You get called out for having the audacity to question the effort in a "meaningless" game. I preach patience as much as anyone, and try to put mid week games into perspective, when talking about how they effect seeding. You and I both know that if LSU takes care of business in conference, they'll be fine.
But, I have never subscribed to the idea of any game that counts against your record as being meaningless. I'm always irritated with a loss because I'd rather win. That seems reasonable. You can go through all my posts and you'll find that I don't go around making declarations after a loss. But if I don't say "it doesn't matter, it's a meaningless game", people confuse whatever I say with melting.

I'd like to remind everyone that you can hate CPM as a coach and still love LSU baseball and hope they win it all. Bookmark this so I can remind you that I'm totally ok with hating CPM and winning the CWS.

It's annoying as hell and looks terrible for this team.
got it dumbass?
Did you even watch or listen to the game? Be honest.

Thanks for calling me a hater instead of the lame “people who want CPM fired”.
I don't want CPM fired; I just dream about the day we get a motivator instead of a manager. Every fiber of my being knows that CPM is wrong for LSU. I just sit there and wait, longing for the day he finally leaves.
Good news is, there are lots of extra seats at Alex Box. Just hope the soul of the program remains after he’s gone.

CPM is a Les Miles. He will have super talented teams that he does OK with. Of course, just about any coach could do OK with the talent LSU consistently brings in. If you want to get to Omaha but likely not win, stay pat. If you want to return LSU baseball to the elite program it was in the 90's (of course the results will likely never be achieved), then get a better coach who is deserving of coaching one of the top programs in America.

I just pulled up the schedule because it fells like we lost a ton of mid week non-conference games. Much to my surprise, our mid week record is 7-3.
ETA: Like another poster said earlier in this thread:
Being dominate in your conference gets us to Omaha. Mid week non conference games are meaningless.

It's Southern.

Just curious.
I don't think I've ever seen you post about baseball on here and definitely don't remember you commenting on the two straight SEC series wins against top 10 teams. And then here you are after a midweek loss.

It's Southern.....weigh it.

I probably make more baseball games in person than you do...and that's coming down from S'port.
Just because I don't post a lot about baseball, doesn't mean I don't follow it.
Finney is a good pitcher, but he made us look like chumps. It's embarrassing. How many of these lower tier teams do we need to lose to before it becomes unacceptable to you?

Why do ppl make these threads? Do you guys spend your life worrying more about what others who don’t think the exact same way you do are saying than anything els? It must suck to care more about arguing than about LSU.

I care about how the season ends. Another disappointing postseason early exit and it will be unacceptable. Until that happens, considering the position this team is in to date, you just sound like a child complaining about a midweek loss.

Quick answer for me is that it will never matter. It's about thr postseason. Are we losing a lot more in comparison to other teams? Is this an LSU only issue? Seems like over on the SEC Rant someone is always posting that someone lost a midweek game. A&M lost to Texas Southern last night.

Anti-CPM people - A midweek loss to Southern is unacceptable & is a black eye to the program.
Pro-CPM people - A midweek loss to Southern means very little in the grand scheme of things. Making it to Omaha is all that really matters.
This seems to be the deal & I doubt either side will ever change their tune. Personally I'm in the Pro-CPM camp. Imo, this loss is about as irrelevant as it gets.
