I always ask the BK haters here who would've been a better hire and can never get a name.
I always answer with the fact that’s it’s not our job to have an answer to that question. We don’t get to do basic things that would have a major impact on determining if someone would be a better hire than Brian Kelly.

Wasn’t it Brian Kelly that once said “October is for pretenders, November is for Contenders” or something to that effect?
Correct, we still haven’t had a team of contenders but he is 8-4 in the month of November

you are a complete intellectually dishonest liar. many have provided names. i am on the fence regarding kelly not a hater but it don't look great now.
this guy was available but we did not even try.
next best coach to saban.
His Jaguars tenure was certainly.....something.

To be fair, its not our job to fire a coach either but people here constantly want to.

That’s very true as well.

well we’re 8-4 this year and we were 6-6 going into that bowl game and lost. same thing I guess.

To me, it's very unfair to criticize someone's decision if you can't at least present a better answer.
Especially when you have the benefit of hindsight and they didn't.

I don’t necessarily disagree. You could theoretically come up with some names, but the question would then be “were they a realistic option?” and there’s no way of knowing that. I’m not sure anyone on here would have said that pulling Brian Kelly away from a team that was a week away from a possible playoff game was realistic but then it happened.

Both those baws won national titles. One played for a second. The other built the greatest team in CFB history. Kelly doesn't compare.

This always makes me laugh.
Disregard the subsequent two years.

Again, the question is asked why BK is being held to a lower standard? Seems like 10-2 or better next season or the seat should be hot (if we could afford to buy him out).
why didn't you hold orgeron to this standard?
Maybe you won't be a coward and you'll answer this time.
Kelly isn't being fired because you're daddy left him the worst lsu roster since dinardo was the coach.

And Miles was going 8-4 and 9-3 at the end with bad OOC games and more talent.

$3M payout per team from kinders.

The only OOC game we lost in '14 or '15 was to BK's ND team in the Music City Bowl. I think it's also debatable that we had more talent in '14 than State, Auburn, or Bama and OM or Bama in '15. I think we had better talent than Arky both years.
It was time for Les to go. IMO, the program had Les-fatigue, had plateaued, and had become stale.
But Les had a better record in 2015 than we'll have this year. Are we willing to hold BK to the same standard if we start 2-2 in 2025?

I mean, yeah, they played a bunch of cupcakes other than Wisconsin.
Wisconsin
Sam Houston State
ULM
New Mexico State
Syracuse
Eastern Michigan
Western Kentucky
McNeese St (cancelled)
He was 9-7 in SEC play across those two years.

The 247 Team Talent Composite isn't available for 2014 but they were #5 in 2015, likely top 5 in 2014 as well.
For a comparison, they were #8 this year.
So Les was performing worse in SEC play despite having more talent.
