They showed they didn’t matter when they put Bama in last year. The precedent has already been set.

If they are basing the playoff on being Power 5 then this absolutely should hold truth.

Nah I want the Big 10 champ to miss the playoffs again so we can have an 8 team playoff

And let UCF play ND in the easy road bowl.

I really don’t understand why they are ahead of OU now. Undefeated with weak SOS. Marquis win was against Michigan, but in hindsight, that’s not a great win.

I just want chaos so an 8 team playoff comes up

And ohio state blew Michigan's doors off.

Until last week, they were the one team to beat a Michigan team that looked destined for the playoffs. Beat the teams that Clemson and Ohio State beat in their respective conference champions. Beat a Vandy team that would count as a conference win for 13 other teams in the SEC, the ones that beat them this year anyway. Beat five ACC opponents, including a Syracuse team that finished 9-3 and had close losses to both Teams in the conference championship game. Hosted and beat Stanford, and went on the road and beat their traditional year-end rival who admittedly sucks right now, just like other rival teams do. The only thing they didn’t do was play in a conference championship game, and we’ve seen how doing so or not doing so has been irrelevant for other teams in conferences.
Despite their perceived scheduling weaknesses, they are still 18 spots higher than Clemson in that statistic. We’ve seen years where teams avoid the best teams in-conference. So why should that be the measuring stick?
For the record, I agree that ND should be fully invested in a conference to participate, but until all conferences have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs, why would they limit themselves?

No, the committee should send a clear message that being one of the four best teams matters - and it’s the ONLY thing that matters.

If I'm the Big12 commissioner I'm looking to see if ND and LSU would want to come join.

Win it on the field. Perception leads to bias.

The committee is a mess who don’t know what they are looking for. Their answers change every week. It’s the problem with giving a small group of people 100% of the power to decide who goes where

+1
I'm no ND fan but they earned their way in the playoff. All P5 teams (exlcuding service academies) on their schedule hen every other teams has a FCS cupcake or two.

If ND joined the ACC their schedule would overall be much easier outside Clemson. Pushing them in a conference is the opposite of what you want.

But ND doesn't end the season with a big game. Join a conference and quit acting better than everyone else.

Neither did Alabama last year

Then GA goes in instead of OK for a rematch against AL

Meh...somewhat agree, but I’m not a Notre Dame hater. They had a pretty respectable season. Take a little deeper look at why the committee considers them a power school regardless of an affiliation with a conference and you’ll get your answer.
