The chant is lame but what will TS do when most fans sit on their hands or leave early? The student section carries the day more often than not. The good out weighs the bad IMO

Hard to disagree with most of this. I just wish the chant was clever, in some way remotely associated with football, or even customized for the other team (Rammer Jammer-esqe) I dont really care about the vulgarity and all, but it just sounds dumb.

Isn't it an obscenity regardless? So you'd be okay with a line drawn in the sand that says its acceptable for your child to hear "shite," but not "frick"? I mean, where does it stop?

Yes it is obscenity regardless of how "severe". and each parent has to make the choice on what they want their kids to be subjected to. My point is that the admin has to make the same determination on what is good for the institution, not as short-sighted as a college kid's view of "cussing cause i can". I never said or claimed that i have always been respectful, but i'm not going to whine about the admin deciding to take steps to end orchestrated, group obscenity attached to songs played by TGBFTL. that IS an embarrassment to the majority of fans.

and if college kids (which at one time i was one) are gonna demand that they are gonna be trashy in their chants and everybody can get over it, then don't whine when the other side of the debate reacts by taking out songs to stop enabling orchestrated obscenities.

I agree. The chant is ridiculous. If I want to take my kids to a college game I should be able to, but good luck explaining that to the rantards in the student section.

This thread is useless. Potty mouths say what you must during the game. But don't rationalize to make it ok. Sttdb is lame. Its tacky and doesn't add to the atmosphere. Say it if you want, idgaf. But just know that you are mindless sheep. Be creative, like blowing up tebows phone. Now that was creative and relevant to that game.

There will always be something that drunk college students yell that gets a song banned. Has been for a while.

They will replace the songs with new songs, and the students will chant something else vulgar.

It is college, get over it.

Don't be so sure. They may get tired of arranging stuff that gets banned within 3 games.

Enjoy your '70s hits, Lady Gaga and Ke$ha.

You don't think the student section can get a vulgar chant going with that stuff?

So what you are saying is that LSU football exists for the private use of the students and that all others are guests and should either bear with the behavior of the students or stay away?

No, he is saying if you are going to go to an event where you know that 50% of the population will be inebriated before it starts and it's an event where everyone there is very passionate, it shouldn't shock you when drunk, stupid, passionate people act like drunk, stupid, passionate people.

It's well documented how LSU fans act during game days. Why is such a big deal when people go to the game and see it in person? You know what to expect already before getting there. If cussing and swearing and drunk people bother you, don't go to a SEC football game. It's not rocket science.

For the record, NFL games are many times worse.

You can easily take them to the game, just don't sit near the student section and you will be fine.

TS's reputation comes from the rantards creating a very nice home field advantage for us. That reputation doesn't come from parents bringing kids who fall asleep by the end of the 3rd quarter.

As I said in my previous post, you can't go to an event where you know drunk, stupid, passionate people are and not expect to see what you see on game days. If it bothers you to bring your kids, then bring them when they are older. It's your choice, but TS isn't changing.

Do people, as they get older, forget what it was like to be a student at football games?

What's your deal old people? I've got a 2 year old, when I take him in a few years and people are cussing around him, I may ask them to tone it down a bit. But I probably won't, I'll probably tell my son that this is an example of a time when this kind of behavior is acceptable. Because it is.

I cuss when I watch sports, I'm passionate and I get angry/happy and I cuss. So what? They are just words, your kid says dang I say damn. They mean the same thing. Use it as an opportunity to educate them on synonyms.

Oh...
"Passion" makes this chant acceptable...
And, of course, because it's SEC football.
Naturally.
/Face palm/
How does this render this particular language any less lame, uninspired and juvenile?
I wish we could see the ages of the posters here.

No. People cuss at sporting events, welcome to the sporting world. In fact people do it all the time, welcome to America.

It doesn't. But what I said was that it has been this way for a long damn time. College aged people yell and cuss. It is the way it is now and the way it was when you were in college too. They do it more often when they have been drinking for 12 hours before a game too.

26, does that make me less right? Just because someone is old doesn't make them right, and it doesn't mean you have to be lame either.

The stadium isn't loud because of the over 50 age group.

Texas Tiger,
Yes, I noted you are the parent of two year old.
And that you have no problem with this language in front of your child.(And, that you use a purple and gold skull, as part of your identity. Impressive).
"Passion" makes it ok, if lame, stupid and immature.
Or being drunk.
Or that it's an SEC game.
Just as a reminder, the passionate, drunk, SEC fan excuse is the one used by Harvey Updyke.
And he wasn't "young"
Being young doesn't make this behavior stupid.
Being stupid is what makes it...well, stupid.

So now cussing is the same as killing 100 year old trees.

Are we trying to write
Poems?
Your writing is very
Difficult to understand
Even if those sentences were put
together in paragraph form
And to make a comment mocking
my picture with a name
such as "nitwit" is...
well...stupid.
