This happened throughout the game. The off side linemen let the opposition cross his face and go laterally down the line. Step and cut the man off then go upfield looking for the next guy. Not LSU, after first contact buy a ticket and watch the play

More obvious than the horrible blocking is that USC defense knew where the play was going. When the defense knows what you're about to do it's a lot harder on the offense to make it work.

He literally did on the first play of the game. Now in that moment he may have been told not pull it but he certainly was given that freedom is other parts of the game.

I think this is a play were trying to go so fast hurt us, more then the defense. We tried to rush the play to not let USC get set and I don't think the oline and especially the TEs were ready to make the blocks. USC got ready our TEs especially didn't . Probably also limited what they play call was and took the RPO out of the play. We tried to hurry. No one was ready on our side. Sometimes a quick play can actually hurt a line that has to think(albeit it should be brief) about where to block. Dline is just firing off.

Can’t throw the quick slant when the WR stands at the line of scrimmage for two seconds! Check the video

The DB to the bottom is giving so much cushion it would be physically impossible to break up a quick hitch to the sticks

Lacy barely moved from 1st pic to the 2nd pic in original post.

Was he even an option on that play or was it run all the way (should still do something for the next time when it is an RPO with same player set and maybe did more than pics show)?

Pimpton is not a blocking TE

He got beat to the inside. This has nothing to do with whether you are a blocking TE or not. He was probably still thinking about his catch a play earlier instead of focusing on his responsibility on what was literally the biggest play of the game.

Lack of experience got him.

No

All Pimpton had to do was impede his guy a little bit and Emery gets the 1st down.

MAYBE he squeaks through. But, nobody made a block on that play.

Yes he did ! Just because he had one bad block does not mean he’s not a blocking TE
