LSU fans, interestingly, seem so fricking insecure.

Bama is at the top of college football and have been for a while. why would they bother obsessing over other schools? I guarantee if they were in Arkansas or Ole Miss' shoes they would have the same mentality and print these T-shirts that are synonymous for hating bigger programs

But that's my point -- y'all might not be at the top, but you're pretty damned close. You don't need to measure yourself against Bama for validation. That's what lesser football programs do, and LSU is not a "lesser program" and hasn't been for over a decade. You're not in Arkansas or OM's shoes any more than Bama is.

LSU fans need to get over the loss we had in the NC a few years back, it happens

There are more than enough things that have only happened in that game that make Lsu look pretty terrible even to the day. That doesn't just "happen"

I'm sure Bama success helps fuel the negativity, but I simply feel they are my most hated rival. I live in Georgia, and I hate the Falcons. There is no way a guy growing up in Louisiana and loving the Saints and LSU could possibly have anyone other than the Falcons and Tide at the top of our shite list.

I never wish injury on Bama players, but I would rather take a personal arse whipping than lose to Alabama. It that mean I'm obsessed, so be it.

As a culture, though, y'all are better than this. I know Bama sticks particularly in your collective craws for perfectly legitimate reasons -- the national titles and the rematch game being the most obvious -- but LSU has had scary amounts of talent and far too much success to debase themselves by focusing so heavily on one rival, even if that rival happens to be Bama. Y'all don't respect Arkansas or OM for their obsession with you; why should you give Bama fans a reason to see you the same way? You're better than that, and now that football culture has truly been awakened in LA, you will continue to be better than that. It's not about t-shirts. Those are just symptomatic. It's about defining yourselves by your own standards rather than measuring yourselves against another program. That's what Bama does, and you're damned well entitled to do so yourselves after all your success.

Damn strong post, probably too rational for the Rant, however. Well done. Have an upvote.

the biggest problem with the LSU fanbase is the "BEAT BAMA" shirts.

Not a shirt, but he wore it to SEC Media Days. Close enough.
And classic Gump Boy will probably be wearing a new one of those soon; even with a first year starting QB running the Offense.

when Steely Dan writes a song about LSU, then and only then will LSU fans have self esteem

Players from LSU circle the Bama game. Players from Bama circle the LSU game. That's a good culture to have.

One of your top recruiters disagrees with you. In his own words. "If the kid doesn't come here, then he better go there, or he just ain't doing it the right way"

If your own coaching staff disagrees with you, you have no foundation to your argument.

BTW, your BS about respecting opponents? Auburn says hello

The biggest problem with the LSU culture is that a player is perceived to be not a good player if you don't leave after your junior year. The perception is that Only the sucky players stay for their senior year (with one exception). Anyone and everyone leaves after their junior year, even if they don't get drafted.Alabama players leave after their junior year only if they're going to be a first or second round pick.
