Just to play a little devil's advocate for the 1st year of the bridge schedule (I won't defend year 2). I know LSU got screwed with having to play UGA.

However, I think the SEC wanted to start Mizzou and Texas A&M off with big name opponents from the other division. Mizzou got to host Alabama, and Texas A&M got to host Florida (the two teams with the most SECCG appearances).

I'm not saying it was right, or the best idea, but I think that was their logic in year 1.

We're not talking about the 1950s when everyone played 6 conference games.

Since the conference expanded and went to the permanent opposite divisional opponent format in 1991, Tennessee has beat Florida 5 times in 28 games. Florida has been the better team since expansion and Florida has been LSU's permanent opponent since expansion.

you have no idea, "no idea" why auburn, Georgia, Florida are happier to play us every year rather then bama

and im sure Tennessee and mizoo would rather play us then bama as well.

not saying its the same every year, but overall the odds are better for all of those teams if they play us instead of bama

So the Georgia game didn’t matter?
Correct. You know how standings work. If Bama wins its 7 other games, and LSU goes 6-1, the LSU-Bama game decides it. This entire thread is pathetic.

If they’d played and beaten Vanderbilt, guess what they would have still been doing the first Saturday of December?

Feel free to name a year when scheduling has given Alabama an SEC or national championship at the expense of LSU.

Should be an open-and-shut question/thread.

I hear ya; my bad. But “screwed” in this instance comes with no consequence. The Georgia game didn’t cost LSU any trophies that year.

What’s pathetic is you still don’t understand the point being made. One team gets an easier road to that 6-1 or 7-0 than the other. So one can afford to lose it and still play for a championship. The other can’t.

It’s impossible to say it hasn’t affected any outcomes because bama has never had to play those 2 potentially season ruining games like we have, just as we never get 2 cupcakes from the east like they do.

Alabama played Florida in 2014, Georgia in 2015 and killed them both.

Fact. Why do y’all not like playing big time crossover games? We win them more than we don’t. It’s fun for the team and fans. Stop bitching.

Wow, must be nice to only play one of them each year.

But don’t get me wrong, We do like playing big games. We don’t like the fact that some schools don’t have to.

Auburn plays Alabama and Georgia every year and last year it benefitted then greatly. I don’t see the issue? It gives your team a chance to knock off bigger teams and therefore puts LSU at the top if they win.

Why take the easy way? So everyone can say LSU didn’t play anybody like bama?

This sounds a lot like "Why doesn't Alabama play other teams that can maybe beat them because we can't beat them ourselves?"

Speaking of years ago, it should be pointed out that scheduling has been an issue with Alabama ever since Bryant has been there. Alabama managed to schedule an extra conference game starting in the late 50’s. Go check for yourself. What does it matter you might ask ? It meant that Alabama could win the conference outright if they finished 6-1 while a team with a typical 6 game conference schedule could also have one conference loss and be behind Alabama in percentage points. This Alabama inequality has been going on since the formation of the conference. That’s my 2 cents

Come talk to us when you play 2 top 10 teams cross division and then follow that up with an LSU matchup.

Good point. It’s very rare that a team or player is so dominant over the rest of the field without some underlying advantages . Whether it’s UCLA basketball under wooden, Barry Bonds, or bama’s sec bias lasting for decades.

You’re factually wrong. LSU has four games to schedule how it pleases. The difference between the toughest four games LSU can schedule and the weakest four games LSU can schedule is far greater than the disparity in any two SEC west conference schedules.

This is a pathetic thread.
