Norman was on fire and having his best game ever. Then...bench. He's not the only inexplicable action either.
The explanation is that he was coaching for the rest of the weekend and not just that game. I am not saying that he was right and in fact he was completely wrong and deserves every ounce of criticism for doing it, but that is the reason for all his pitching decisions in that game.

I actually more interested to see how our bullpen shakes out behind the rotation.
We NEED Deichmann to live up to his billing this season. He has all the tools to be a fantastic all-around player, but it's a longshot.

people don't like to hear this but Poche 100% lost us that game. He makes those throws i'm confident we go on to win.
They still could have ended up losing but Poche was rolling until then and he never recovered. LSU ends up winning that game and they make it atleast to the championship series and Maineiri looks like a genius for starting Poche over Lange in game one. It is crazy how two plays can completely change the perception of a whole season.

Even if that's the case, which I agree is a terrible reason in a lose and go home situation, it still doesn't explain why he used Godfrey when he did. One of the dumbest moves I've ever seen.

I defended and will still defend starting Poche game 1. It was the right call. And he definitely lost that game.
Funniest part of that week was PM going crazy with the batting order and getting all the credit for game 2.

Agreed, I was on board with it beforehand. It didn't work out, so of course people will question it, but the "always start your ace" people seem to forget that you have to win both of the first two to have an advantage. Starting Poche game 1 was the best use of Poche and Lange for those two games.

He was a batter too late for Godfrey. It might have made sense if the double play was in order.

It was literally the most crucial point in tournament up to then and you put in the worst pitcher your brought (ERA) who's also a freshman?!? With Bugg, Norman, Devall, etc. in the pen! Really?!

actually i said Fraley would probably be the only player to hit .300. I still stand by that. you aren't looking back far enough. here are the quotes.
quote:
really doubt we have any .300 hitters next year, so pitching better be outstanding enough to keep the opposition under 3 runs.
quote:
you're right Frayley may.
Jake Fraley .307
Danny Zardon .288
Kramer Robertson .232
Beau Jordan .219
Michael Papierski .214
Grayson Byrd .212
Bryce Jordan .130
Greg Deichmann .000

Pap has a good shot to hit over .300 as do Deichmann and Adams. If we only have 1 player batting over .300 we will be in trouble.

Zardon could have done it too. :|

Canizaro is one hell of a coach if he can 3 or 4 to hit .300+. if we don't have a great hitting team, i hope we learn to bunt with some effectiveness.

Biggest hurdle for lsu baseball is the head coach

Almost all these guys didn't get a whole lot of plate appearances. I don't think we will set the world on fire at the plate, but I think we will hit well enough for our pitching staff to close games out.

Naw Canezerro will have us hitting solid. It's all about our pitching will Poche' improve his placement, and will we develop a solid 3rd and 4th starter.
