And I think LSU would've shown up more against OSU. Completely different dynamic.
Exactly...thus, the big Elephant in the room here is that LSU didn't want to play Alabama again, while Alabama could not wait for the opportunity should it come.
Lou Holtz and Urban Meyer were right in their reasoning for liking alabama in the rematch..

You do realize this means nothing ,right?
Yes, we know this.
However, the other teams that didn't win their conference never got a mulligan against another team in their conference.

And not this year, ever. That was my issue, it defied all precident. If there was not another 1 loss conf champ, ok. There was one.

Friendo, most of those talking heads you mention also said it was a foregone conclusion that LSU was in even if they lost to UGA.
LOL.
No.
There was a thread here discussing a segment on ESPN where the premise was "If LSU loses to UGA in the SECCG, do they have the right to rematch Bama".
It was already a foregone conclusion Bama was in. LSU was literally still "earning" the rematch. According to those who watched the segment, the sentiment on ESPN was that LSU would be left out if they lost the SECCG.
Absurd, but that's the way it works for teams like Bama. Again, more power to you.

That's a big frustration for me and I think many other fan bases. Few, if any teams would have been given a mulligan.
Had LSU lost on 11/5 our asses would still be packing for NOLA, but for the Sugar Bowl.

This is the critical point most people are missing. But rest assured, just as the system was tweaked when the media's beloved USC was left out in 2003, the system will again be tweaked if the media's beloved Bama is ever screwed like we were this year.

Resume includes wins and losses. 21 pt loss is an ugly blemish on resume.
LSU has some impressive wins, but a 21 pt loss where they were out gained 4 to 1 and crossed the 50 yard line once stands out like a black eye on any resume.

So you don't have any numbers to back it up other than from that one game? Even though your'e talkign about the resume of an entire season?

So now you want to change the discussion to resumes AFTER the bowls?
Face it. Your team got a second chance no other team in BCS history will ever get strictly due to LSU's accomplishments.
You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.
Again, congrats on winning your mulligan. More power to you and schools like USC who play by different standards than the hundred plus other Division 1 programs.

His OP was that when all was said and done Bama proved they were the best team and had the best resume and that basically they system worked.
I disagree that they proved they were the best and certinly didn't have the best resume.

I agree with this but must be noted that it dovetails the topic of this thread

Look Lsu resume was like having and IVY league degree(impressive wins), but the 21 pt beat down is like having a felony conviction attached to it.
Bama resume is like having a degree from UVA(not as impressive as LSU's) but a 3 pt OT upset loss is only traffic fines compared to LSU felony conviction.
Bama Resume looks better to any employer IMO.

Wow. Just wow.
Beating two other BCS Bowl winning teams..
Never mind. You are delusional.
Again, congrats on getting a chance at something that is unprecedented in the sport of college football. More power to you and the other traditional/entitled/media darlings who play by different standards.

Serious question:
The point the gump made above about the felony:
I've seen this point often the past week. Did ESPN throw out this talking point or was it another media outlet?

Judging by the responses in this thread, at least it looks like some of the Tiger Nation has moved into the "Bargaining" phase of our stages of grief....
With that being said, if the BSC is going to promote the fact that College Football doesn't need a playoff, b/c "Every game is a playoff"... Why didn't the win on November 5th count for anything?
Hats off to the Gumps for their mulligan MNC... Alabama played the hand that was dealt; it's the system that produced a rematch (which was a nightmare scenario for the team that won the first meeting- that is a fact)that is to blame....
