earthquake, If you aren't being sarcastic then you must be the most naive person I have seen on here. Ice baths are nothing new to training, MMA fighters have been doing it for years and although I haven't personally seen it I would think these programs have figured it out by now. Bama doesn't have the corner on the ice bath market.

exactly, I don't claim to know where it started, just saying Bama isn't the only team doing it.

Do all teams move inside when it gets hot. Is Bama and Florida moving inside when it gets hot

It's not necessarily a matter of toughness. In extreme heat, you have to do a lot more hydrating and players get fatigued more easily. That can interfere with what you're trying to accomplish in a particular practice, so it can sometimes be a good idea to go indoors so you can work on whatever you're trying to work on that day without the distractions of the heat. It doesn't mean our team can't take the heat.

I'm sure if the Gumps are using them we are too! I would have to be pretty damn hot before I jumped off in a tub full of ice but if it makes a players body recover better for practice the next day and not have as many heat strokes out there then more power to them.

It's to reduce inflammation in the muscles. It sucks when you're in there, but you feel like you never practiced the next day.

i dont know if this has been mentioned because i didn't read the whole thread but i was talking to a rabid bama fan the other day and he was telling me how they were forced to the indoor facility because of the heat recently. so im not sure about florida but bama is doing this as well.

Practicing in 98 degree heat doesn't help the team. All it does it overheat the players so meaningful practice gets short. You can't perform worth a crap when you are overheated. You don't need to be hot to learn technique and plays and execution.

All it does it tear your body down and come game time you lose your legs that much quicker.

Getting your body conditioning for the heat comes more from living in it than working out in it.
