So you stated a fact in your first sentence......what makes you think that people bitching will change that.....in fact I bet CBS execs aka people that make decisions never see a single email or hear a word about it.

maybe...maybe not. who knows...maybe CBS adds more night game slots next year. I'll guarantee you this....if nothing is said, nothing will change.

There are apparently a lot of people here and those 10-20% (guessing) should educate themselves.

Why? Do you have to have a working knowledge of tv ratings/contracts to be a fan? I understand that if a person wants to inject themselves in a conversation about a topic they should have at least a basic knowledge of the topic. However, I don't think they need a certificate of completion for university of phoenix's tv ratings and contracts 101 to state they would like an SEC home night game.

That said, smart people could easily get together and figure out a way that benefits everyone (CBS/ESPN included) to prevent in the future LSU from playing zero SEC night games at home.

I'm sure CBS will be willing to say "ahh frick the millions of dollars we gave these guys. We'll pass on showing the #1 team in the nation or who ever the frick we feel like which is our option..."

I, for one, am not lobbying for CBS to pass on anything. I actually have a solid respect for CBS and their support of the SEC over the years. My solution is for CBS to work out a way with the SEC and ESPN to have more than one primetime CBS SEC games. Everyone benefits IMO, including CBS. Smart men can get together and figure out a way to make things better in the future and preserve a cherished tradition along with making everyone more $$$.

But Choctaw is right ... there's nothing wrong with LSU fans and the LSU administration making it known that we prefer night games and it's arguaby our school's greatest football tradition that we're not going to allow to simply watch slowly die because we're an elite team.

Will the griping change things? Probably not. But it certainly can't hurt. LSU is getting the same amount of TV $$$ from the SEC regardless of what time they decide to put our home games and what station airs the game.

The SEC would be setting a horrible precedent by renegotiating the tv contract. Ever.

Do you honestly think that if the CBS executives thought they could generate more revenue by showing SEC football in prime time on Saturday nights they would have retained the rights instead of allowing the SEC to award them to ESPN?

It's not that simple. Maybe more older people watch on Saturday night, people the advertisers don't cater to. Though there may be less viewers at 2:30, maybe those are the preferred 18-49 demo who are more likely to buy their products. Maybe night games are more expensive to produce.

Or maybe the combo of afternoon football ratings + their prime time Saturday night programming is greater than prime time football and their alternate afternoon programming, making up for the slightly more prime time football viewers. CBS is one of the biggest broadcast companies in the history of the world--you tards don't think they know best what time slot is in their best interest? Get fricking real. Goddamn y'all are some huge fricking embarrassing bitches.

I actually think it's arrogant of our fanbase to think that CBS or any network will cater to our tradition. If CBS wants our games, they want our games. That means we're the best match of the week, best team to watch. I want a night game in Tiger Stadium just as much as anyone but to sit here and say "WE DESERVE THEM" is somewhat ridiculous.

I guess what I'm saying is don't blame CBS/ESPN. Blame the SEC for being very VERY two sided on schools traditions.

You're right the phenomenon of entitlement is rampant in the state of Louisiana on many more levels than just this

I wonder if there would be an appreciable ratings drop if the 92k that attend the game and are also likely recording it on dvr choose to simply watch the CST recorded version of the game later in the week.

I have to agree with JPL though. There is no reason that smart persons could not lay out a plan to benefit everyone. There is plenty of money to be made.

Silver lining to the whole 2:30 day games... I get my hangover done with before Sunday. You're welcome for the positive spin.

I didn't go into detail but it was referenced.

TV deals with CBS and ESPN/SEC Network (ESPN Regional Television)

and I provided links. Many (though not in this thread) seem to not get that LSU or any school doesn't have a say in when they play on a given day for a conference game.
