My wife walked in while I was watching a game, after a few minutes she asked "who's the seal behind home plate". So to us he's "The Seal", maybe we'll bring a beach ball for him to balance on his nose.

We share tickets with a group, when we go we are 4 rows in back of The Seal, yes, he is annoying in person. It's like having someone kick the back of your seat.

Wait, are you saying that I'm lying and don't have friends that discuss how annoying the clapper guy is? You are so all knowing and omniscient that you know what I discuss with my friends through text messages during the LSU games?

How arrogant are you? Did you forget that people complain about this dude pretty much every game on TD? But sure, I'm just making it up.

I've sat on that same row as you. I find it annoying, usually when we are on offense and things are quiet except for him... slow clapping... loudly... slowly... as the pitcher gets the sign... stopping right before he starts his motion. And it didn't annoy me until a friend who has season tickets on that row pointed it out... I actually haven't met anyone in that area who isn't bothered by it.

That's what I'm talking about. Unless you focus on the guy, he's invisible.

I've never been bothered by him. I've never met anyone who is bothered by him.

I can't NOT notice it now, dammit!

If you've been on that row, ask the lawyers around you.

It doesn't ruin my experience or many others. I, like them, find it mildly annoying like a fly stuck inside your car. The friend who pointed it out wants to rip his hair out over it. If he could ignore it, he would.

One thing is clear though, this isn't this guy's way of cheering for the team. It isn't anything like that. It's the same as his waving last year. It's his "thing" that he feels like he has to do for his own piece of mind/satisfaction. Like the guy who wears the same shirt every Friday. Or the guy at home who has to sit in the same spot on the couch during every 2-strike count. It's his "quirk" that again, will only last this year. What's different is that his "quirk" is noticeable and annoying to lots of people. That's undeniable. But it's fine to call those people, including me, names (snowflakes). Doesn't hurt my feelings.

For a while, I thought he was doing it to mess with the opposing pitcher. Like fans behind the backboard trying to jinx a free throw shooter. That's what I thought he was doing with the wave thing last season. But now with the clapping, he does it when we're in the field too. I almost wish he'd go back to the wave. Even though it looks retarded, at least I'm able to ignore it for the most part. And it will never be as annoying as the Vandy Whistlers.

Then man up and say something to him. Tell him how much he annoys you. Or get your "lawyer" friends to talk to him. I'm sure he'll understand. And you'll be a Rant Hero!

From what I can tell from the game threads the guy is there for almost every home game cheering for the Tigers. GOOD FOR HIM!!! We need more fans like him!

Russian thinks the clapper is a hero because he goes to the games.I go to some but watching on the TV the noise annoys the crap out of me.For some reason the TV picks it up loud and clear. In my opinion he is doing it for attention because he does it when no one else is clapping. He also knows he is on TV so he gets to be known. How many people watching on TV are bothered and how many aren't? I don't know but I sure am.

I don't know about "hero" but I sure do admire and support anyone who goes to games and supports the team.

To me it's humorous how many Ranters sit at home and complain about the fans who attend games. I don't put much stock in their opinions.
