I’d rather play our schedule then have to play Georgia and Alabama on the road. Throw out UW and Auburn’s schedule is tougher for that reason alone. Playing those teams at home at least gives me a sliver of hope for an upset.

Of course it is. No one said it wasn't. Why do you guys take things to extremes. Just because it isn't the toughest doesn't mean it's not difficult, but you get almost all of the toughest games at home.

Of course. This schedule lends a lot of oppurtunity for LSU to spring upsets and have a good season.

That's close. LSU has to play said Auburn team (#9) whereas Auburn has to play LSU (#25). Both of those schedules are really tough.

A&M plays

Clemson

That's not tougher. LSU has an extra "tough" game in Georgia. Clemson is an extremely tough game though.

It's the home and away games that makes me say A&M is tougher, but it's tough to argue against the extra tough game as well.

It's YOUR opinion that it isn't the toughest. That doesn't make it true. You are saying it as if it is fact. Instead of those 4 games you threw in there, lsu has five, and again, no one plays 4 top 9 teams plus Ms State, and then Florida and a&m on the road. Few places are tougher to play than Auburn btw, for multiple reasons. No one is saying that Auburn or a&m have easy schedules, but the fact is neither plays FOUR top 10 teams.

There are some here that think we beat Miami but I think most would see Clemson as a loss as an opening game for this team. And at least in recent history most LSU fans would give us a fighting chance with Alabama at home vs at Tuscaloosa.

You are forgetting the "extra" top 10 team lsu has though. Yes, lsu plays well usually at home vs bama, but I'd guess over the last 30 years they have more wins at bama than at home. Now Auburn is a different animal....tough to win there.

You're right, it's my opinion. The home and away split is what I believe makes the difference. Florida won 4 games last year, so that shouldn't be a factor this year IMO.

I agree that Jordan Hare is one of the toughest places to play. But, imagine if we had to goto Bama and UGA. To me that's harder. We get UGA, MSU then Bama in 4 weeks, all at home. I'm including State as a tough game for LSU as well.

For what it's worth, the schedule doesn't get much easier in the future with 10 OOC Power 5 games in the next 12 years and Florida will be back under Mullen. We might as well get used to it.

You’re forgetting that those teams play LSU as well.

You keep talking about the number of top 10 teams we play vs Auburn and TAM, but are we not an extra “tough” game for them, despite our prove it ranking? Are we a gimmie for teams like Auburn all of a sudden?

Is that a game those teams and fans point to as a sure W?

When comparing schedules with Auburn, I’d say take our game out and compare the remainder, because at least in my opinion that game is equally tough for both teams looking at it in the offseason with a slight bump for the home team.

That leaves three top 3 teams for each, with Auburn’s neutral site a tougher opponent and the other two on the road and our other two at home. MSU home for us as well vs away for Auburn.

I didn't even bring that up because IMO LSU is in a prove it situation until further notice. But, I have a feeling once the season gets going, people are going to see LSU as a tougher game than they are right now.

I'm not forgetting anything. I'm stating facts. No other team in the country plays 4 preseason top 9 teams. Eod

For various reasons cited above, the differences in the schedules are razor thin-- at least pre-season. The actual difficulty may vary from the predicted difficulty. Who cares? Just win!

That's the point my friend of reason. To me, yes the schedule is difficult, but it lends more of an oppurtunity than a detriment. Go win those games with the new and improved roster and coaching staff and prove everyone wrong.

I just don't think it's by far and away the most difficult schedule in the conference, much less the nation, nor do I believe it's overly harder than what LSU has played in the past or will play in the future.

Nope you're wrong. It's the hardest schedule in the history of schedules

Yet your “facts” are based on nothing more than polls of opinion.

It is not a “fact” that those are indeed the best 9 teams in the country. For various reasons, those teams have been selected by various people to represent a starting point with ambiguous criteria.

If LSU beats Miami and Auburn loses to Washington week 1, LSU could actually go into that matchup ranked higher than Auburn in week 3, and Auburn would certainly no longer be a top 10 team at the very least.

Would that mean it is a “fact” that LSU then has a tougher schedule?

And yet, you can't name me another team that plays 4 top 9 opponents. Not to mention state, at the swamp, and at Aggie.

You keep trying to downplay the schedule, yet you can't name another team that plays that many top 10 teams, nor can you name another year where lsu had 4 top 10 games scheduled.

Don't worry, you'll have your fellow negas defending you here. The fact is though, this discussion wouldn't be happening if you would have just said yes, lsu has a tough schedule. Instead, you challenge it as if it really isn't that tough. Admin troll.

Okay, so why list Auburn's or a&m schedule. It is all opinion. Clemson could suck. Washington probably does suck. Bama? Scrubs. I know, instead of using a benchmark from the national media, we will use your opinion to rank teams. Better?

In this very thread you shite all over playing at State as a tough game. LSU gets them at home. Florida was 4-7 last year and when was the last time LSU lost to A&M.

Plus, you guys kept saying that last year was O's first year at LSU and now you wanna use A&M and Florida as tough games when those were far worse situations than what O took over. Here is where you guys back yourself into a corner when defending Orgeron at all costs.
