No, but it’s ample evidence that the margins for error no longer exist for any program, no matter how good or how well backed. There will always be portal turnover now and top teams will usually lose multiple players to the draft and eligibility. It’s harder now than it has ever been to be consistently good to great.
Again, it’s not an excuse for failure, but it absolutely is a sign that recalibration of how team building is approached is necessary.

You make a run, you’re sacrificing recruiting for it. Simple as that.

the biggest difference in my mind is - outside of maybe Arkansas - none of the rest of those fan bases really GAF....anywhere near what the LSU fan base does.

such a dumb, dumb comment made by a true simpleton. The OP was just pointing out the disadvantage the current portal window puts on the playoff teams. Anyone with a scintilla of reasoning skills could have figured that one out.
